Coherent inelastic backscattering of intense laser light by cold atoms

open access: yes, 2004
We present a nonperturbative treatment of coherent backscattering of intense laser light from cold atoms, and predict a nonvanishing backscattering signal even at very large intensities, due to the constructive (self-)interference of inelastically ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Half-Duplex or Full-Duplex Relaying: A Capacity Analysis under Self-Interference

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper multi-antenna half-duplex and full-duplex relaying are compared from the perspective of achievable rates. Full-duplexing operation requires additional resources at the relay such as antennas and RF chains for self-interference cancellation.

Self-interference channel for full duplex transceivers [PDF]

open access: yes2014 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2014
The self-interference (SI) channel in full duplex transceivers is investigated. The SI channel is measured using ultra wide-band antennas. Narrow-band measurement technique is used for the channel measurements so that spatial resolution of 4.3 cm is achieved.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Throughput Improvement in Cellular Networks via Full-Duplex Based Device-to-Device Communications

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2016
In this paper, throughput improvement of device-to-device (D2D)-aided underlaying cellular networks is analyzed. The D2D devices are assumed to be capable of operating at the full duplex (FD) mode to enable the concurrent transmission and reception with ...

Detection of GPS C/A Code Self-Interference: Monitor Overview and Applicability

open access: yesNavigation, 2023
Self-interference can cause large errors of up to tens of meters on the GPS C/A code pseudorange measurement. Although the probability of an occurrence of large self-interference errors is small, to enable the use of C/A code phase measurements in high ...

Self-Interference Cancellation Using Time-Domain Phase Noise Estimation in OFDM Full-Duplex Systems

open access: yes, 2016
In full-duplex systems, oscillator phase noise (PN) problem is considered the bottleneck challenge that may face the self-interference cancellation (SIC) stage especially when orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission scheme is ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Spatial-digital joint self-interference cancellation method for in-band full-duplex underwater acoustic communication

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
The in-band full-duplex underwater acoustic communication (IBFD-UWAC) mode has twice the information throughput of the traditional half-duplex communication mode, significantly increasing the communication efficiency.
