Studies of Dislocation Formation in Annealed Self-Ion Irradiated Silicon
MRS Proceedings, 1993ABSTRACTVariable energy positron annihilation and Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy have been used to investigate the evolution of secondary defects during the annealing of self-ion irradiated silicon. Evidence supporting the existence of both vacancy- and interstitially-based defects after high temperature anneals is presented.

Cascade damage formation in gold under self-ion irradiation
Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1994Abstract To understand cascade damage formation as a function of primary recoil energy, thin foils of gold were irradiated with 20–400 keV self-ions to a fluence of 1.0 × 10 14 ions/m 2 at 300 K. The yield of groups of vacancy clusters per irradiated ion saturated at an ion energy higher than 100 keV.

Formation of dislocation loops in iron by self-ion irradiations at 40K
Scripta Metallurgica, 1984This letter reports on the first observation of dislocation loops formed in iron by bombardment with self-ions. The irradiations were performed with 50 and 100 keV self-ions to maximum ion doses of 8 x 10/sup 13/ ions cm/sup -2/ in-situ in the High-Voltage Electron Microscope (HVEM) - Tandem accelerator facility at Argonne National Labs.

Crater formation in gold nanoislands due to MeV self-ion irradiation

Depth dependent void swelling rates in self-ion irradiated nickel
Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1979Abstract Specimens of high purity nickel were irradiated with high energy heavy ions and the resultant microstructure examined along the ion path using a cross sectioning sample preparation technique. Void nucleation was found to be very sensitive to hydrogen introduced into the samples by electropolishing prior to irradiation.

New model for damage accumulation in Si during self-ion irradiation

Precipitate behavior in self-ion irradiated stainless steels at high doses
Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2014Abstract To study radiation-induced precipitation at high doses, solution annealed 304L SS and cold worked 316 SS were irradiated to 46 and 260 dpa at 380 °C using 5 MeV Fe ++ and the radiation-induced precipitates were examined using atom probe tomography. Ni/Si-rich clusters were observed in all examined conditions.

Stability of SPPs in Zirconium Alloy CZ2 Under Self-Ion Irradiation
Volume 3: Nuclear Fuel and Material, Reactor Physics and Transport Theory; Innovative Nuclear Power Plant Design and New Technology Application, 2017Zr-Nb zirconium alloy was developed at CNPRI and designated as CZ2. In this paper, the composition, size distribution and crystal structure of second phase particles (SPPs) in CZ2 have been analyzed under transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Two types of SPPs were observed in CZ2, which are bcc β-Nb and hcp Zr-Nb-Fe.

Effects of temperature and helium on void formation in self-ion irradiated aluminum
Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1983Abstract High-purity aluminum was irradiated with 9 MeV aluminum ions at several temperatures in the range 25–125°C, both with and without pre-injected helium. The aluminum ion irradiation doses ranged from 0.2 to 20 dpa. Void swelling in the temperature range studied was found to occur only when the aluminum contains helium gas, and as little as 0.1
