SELECTION EVALUATION OF SELF-POLLINATED LINES OF THE KERNZA SPRINKLE-WHEAT HYBRID BY FORAGE PRODUCTIVITY INDICATORS

open access: yesAgriculture and Forestry
The aim of the study was to carry out a selection assessment of self-pollinated lines of the spelt-wheat hybrid Kernza, which is considered one of the promising perennial grain-forage crops, according to the main indicators of forage productivity. The task of the study was to select highly productive and adaptive starting material for further breeding ...

Justice for biodiversity: an X‐curve transformation pathway for a sustainable future

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, EarlyView.
Decades of conservation action have failed to stem biodiversity loss, stimulating heated debates over which conservation strategies are the most effective. Do we focus on preserving sufficient wilderness, maintaining services from nature for societal well‐being, or protecting vulnerable socioecologies from injustice?

IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS OF SELECTED SELF-POLLINATED CORN LINES BASED ON TOP-CROSS COMBINATIONS

open access: yes
An in-depth analysis of previously identified self-pollinated corn lines for their grain productivity potential was conducted. The studied genotypes were identified as fertility restorers of the “C”-type CMS. The self-pollinated lines used in the experiment could be used to develop highly productive mid-season and mid-late season corn hybrids.

The plant microbiome: From ecological foundations to precision microbial engineering for sustainable agriculture

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
From ecological principles to precision engineering of plant microbiomes for sustainable agriculture. The plant holobiont integrates diverse microbial niches (including rhizosphere, endosphere, phyllosphere, seed, and aerial‐root mucilagesphere), host genetics (namely M genes), and host metabolites. Furthermore, molecular dialogues, including rhizobial

Identification of self-pollinated maize lines by the rates of dry matter accumulation and grain moisture-yielding ability and complex of valuable economic traits

open access: yesThe Scientific Journal Grain Crops, 2023
Topicality. For Ukrainian agricultural production, it is extremely important to obtain consistently high yields of maize grain. Development of high-yielding hybrids requires a diversity of source material, namely self-pollinated lines with the following key requirements of breeders: increased grain and seed productivity, high donor properties, genetic ...

Is quinoa‐farming sustainable in marginal environments? Social, economical and environmental aspects

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) is an Andean grain crop introduced as a novel crop to many parts of the world in recent years. Recognized for nutritious seeds and high abiotic stress tolerance, it has been promoted as an element of climate‐resilient agriculture, particularly in marginal environments.
