Sudden bio-mathematical self-similarity and the uniqueness of human mass societies: from T-patterns and T-strings to T-societies [PDF]
With the explosive growth of human knowledge especially in the twenteeth century with even greater facilitation of access to knowledge, the world of even relatively recent great thinkers becomes daunting as seen from a modern viewpoint.

Self-Similarity and Localization [PDF]
The localized eigenstates of the Harper equation exhibit universal self-similar fluctuations once the exponentially decaying part of a wave function is factorized out.

Kinematic Self-Similarity [PDF]
Self-similarity in general relativity is briefly reviewed and the differences between self-similarity of the first kind and generalized self-similarity are discussed.

The Relationship between Virtual Self Similarity and Social Anxiety [PDF]
In virtual reality (VR) it is possible to embody avatars that are dissimilar to the physical self. We examined whether embodying a dissimilar self in VR would decrease anxiety in a public speaking situation.

Self-Similarity of Friction Laws [PDF]
The change of the friction law from a mesoscopic level to a macroscopic level is studied in the spring-block models introduced by Burridge-Knopoff. We find that the Coulomb law is always scale invariant.

Using fractal self‐similarity to increase precision of shrub biomass estimates [PDF]
We show that aerial tips are self‐similar fractals of whole shrubs and present a field method that applies this fact to improves accuracy and precision of biomass estimates of tall‐shrubs, defined here as those with diameter at root collar (DRC) ≥ 2.5 cm.

FROM SELF-SIMILAR STRUCTURES TO SELF-SIMILAR GROUPS [PDF]
We explore the relationship between the limit spaces of contracting self-similar groups and self-similar structures. We give the condition on a contracting group such that its limit space admits a self-similar structure, and also the condition such that this self-similar structure is post-critically finite (p.c.f.).

Self-Similarity Breeds Resilience [PDF]
Self-similarity is the property of a system being similar to a part of itself. We posit that a special class of behaviourally self-similar systems exhibits a degree of resilience to adversarial behaviour.

Self-similar magnetohydrodynamics [PDF]
For the solution of the full set of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations in the presence of gravity due to a central point-mass, a self-similar theory for a general polytrope has already suggested a set of exact time-dependent solutions by analytical methods for a, (gamma = 4\over3) polytrope, since (gamma = 4/3) is the simplest to treat.

Image super‐resolution based on self‐similarity generative adversarial networks
Self‐attention has been successfully leveraged for long‐range feature‐wise similarities in deep learning super‐resolution (SR) methods. However, most of the SR methods only explore the features on the original scale, but do not take full advantage of ...
