This chapter assumes the importance of developing Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) competences in students in order to cope with the challenges of today’s and tomorrow’s society. Effective self-regulated studying can influence students’ learning in school and beyond. This chapter reviews research on two key decisions: when to study and how to study. It first reviews the decisions people make about when to start and stop studying—that is, when to study—and the metacognitive judgments that underlie those decisions.

Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2007The psychometric properties and multigroup measurement invariance of scores on the Self-Efficacy for Self-Regulated Learning Scale taken from Bandura's Children's Self-Efficacy Scale were assessed in a sample of 3,760 students from Grades 4 to 11. Latent means differences were also examined by gender and school level.
