Bridging semantic gap: learning and integrating semantics for content-based retrieval
Digital cameras have entered ordinary homes and produced^incredibly large number of photos. As a typical example of broad image domain, unconstrained consumer photos vary significantly. Unlike professional or domain-specific images, the objects in the photos are ill-posed, occluded, and cluttered with poor lighting, focus, and exposure.

An Integrated NLP‐ML Framework for Property Prediction and Design of Steels
This study presents a data‐driven framework that uses language‐processing techniques to interpret steel processing descriptions and machine‐learning models to predict mechanical properties. By organising complex process histories into meaningful groups and enabling rapid property forecasts, the work supports faster, more informed steel design through ...

Cross‐Modal Denoising and Integration of Spatial Multi‐Omics Data with CANDIES
In this paper, we introduce CANDIES, which leverages a conditional diffusion model and contrastive learning to effectively denoise and integrate spatial multi‐omics data. We conduct extensive evaluations on diverse synthetic and real datasets, CANDIES shows superior performance on various downstream tasks, including denoising, spatial domain ...

Never Mind the Semantic Gap: Modular, Lazy and Safe Loading of RDF Data (Full Paper)
Any attempt at a tight integration between semantic technologies and object oriented programming will invariably stumble over the gap between the two underlying object models.

We investigate whether Montessori and traditional schooling systems shape the developmental trajectory of large‐scale brain dynamics in different ways. We quantify the arrow of time (“non‐reversibility”) in neural activity during resting state and movie‐watching, revealing distinct maturational patterns.

KEYWORD AND IMAGE CONTENT FEATURES FOR IMAGE INDEXING AND RETRIEVAL WITHIN COMPRESSED DOMAIN
The central problem of most Content Based Image Retrieval approaches is poor quality in terms of sensitivity (recall) and specificity (precision). To overcome this problem, the semantic gap between high-level concepts and low-level features has been ...

Bridging the semantic gap in content-based image retrieval.
To manage large image databases, Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) emerged as a new research subject. CBIR involves the development of automated methods to use visual features in searching and retrieving.

Decoding Spatial Heterogeneity and Multi‐Omics Regulation with Hierarchical Graph Learning
ABSTRACT Recent advances in spatial multi‐omics technologies have enabled the simultaneous profiling of multiple molecular layers within the same tissue slice, providing unprecedented opportunities to investigate tissue spatial organization. However, most existing computational methods identify spatial domains in a purely data‐driven manner, rarely ...

The human brain's imagination, which enables autonomous driving hazard avoidance by completing missing visual information, relies on Gaussian‐stochastic neuron. We report the altermagnetic RuO2 spintronic neurons integrating field‐free switching and intrinsic Gaussian stochasticity, building an all‐spin ANN for high‐quality image repairing and high ...

Bridging the Semantic Gap in Multimedia Information Retrieval: Top-down and Bottom-up approaches
Semantic representation of multimedia information is vital for enabling the kind of multimedia search capabilities that professional searchers require. Manual annotation is often not possible because of the shear scale of the multimedia information that ...
