Problems of the dynamics of moving loads can be divided into three main groups depending on the nature of the load. The first is called the Willis-Stokes [131, 140] problem, describing the motion of an inertial point load travelling along a massless Euler beam. We know its complete analytical solution.

A semi-analytic method for the design of OFDM systems
European Transactions on Telecommunications, 2003This work presents a semi-analytic method for the design of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, thereby avoiding the use of intensive simulation runs. In particular, the power of the distortion on each sub-channel is evaluated analytically for any possible choice of system parameters (namely the number of virtual carriers, the ...

A semi‐analytical method for the wave‐induced seabed response
International Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, 1994AbstractA general semi‐analytical method is presented for the analysis of seabed response under wave action during a storm. The seabed is idealized as a poro‐elastic medium filled with a single compressible fluid with anisotropic flow. The coupled process of fluid flow and deformation of soil skeleton is formulated in the framework of Biot's theory. The

Semi-analytical Methods for Microstructured Waveguides
12th International Conference on Fiber Optics and Photonics, 2014We discuss some the approximate methods developed recently for obtaining propagation characteristics of microstructured waveguides. The methods are based on the variational principle which, in some cases, has been modified to include semi-vectorial effects.

Smart Beams: A Semi-Analytical Method
2012One of the key challenges in structural engineering is to find better ways to control structural vibrations so as to better protect the structures from vibration-induced damages. Structural control methods can be classified into two main groups: passive control and active control.

A semi-analytical method of orbit computation
Chinese Astronomy, 1979Abstract It is efficient to compute the long-period and secular perturbations by numerical intergration and to use the classical analytical solution for the short-period perturbations.

Semi-analytic methods for rotating Timoshenko beams
International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1975Abstract The equations of motion including shear and rotatory inertia are developed for uncoupled lead-lag and flapping vibrations of beams rotating at constant angular velocity in a fixed plane. Separability assumptions lead to an ordinary differential equation in the space variable, and a solution is obtained in terms of four independent functions,

A semi-analytical method to study perturbed rotational motion
Celestial Mechanics, 1988A semi-analytical method is presented to study the system of differential equations governing the rotational motion of an artificial satellite. Gravity gradient and non gravitational torques are considered. Operations with trigonometric series were performed using an algebraic manipulator. Andoyer’s variables are used to describe the rotational motion.
