Semi-analytical solutions describing microwave heating and thawing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Semi-analytical solutions for one-dimensional models of microwave thawing and one and two-dimensional models of microwave reactors are presented. Each of the models includes, as part of the governing equations, a forced heat equation and a steady-state ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Pressure Transient Performance for a Horizontal Well Intercepted by Multiple Reorientation Fractures in a Tight Reservoir

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
A fractured horizontal well is an effective technology to obtain hydrocarbons from tight reservoirs. In this study, a new semi-analytical model for a horizontal well intercepted by multiple finite-conductivity reorientation fractures was developed in an ...

Semi-analytical model for non-spherical particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The problem of the particle shape arising in modelling granular materials by the Discrete Element Method (DEM) is investigated. A semi-analytical modelling concept for arbitrarily shaped particles is presented and with the aim of implementing it in DEM ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Effect of Pitch Ratio on Transverse Fluidelastic Instability for Normal Triangular Tube Arrays Based on Semi-analytical Model

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu
Fluidelastic instability (FEI) is widely recognized as the most destructive flow-induced vibration (FIV) mechanism in tube bundles. FEI has been linked to a number of steam generator heat transfer tube failures in pressurized water reactors, which can ...

Dynamic simulation of semi-active suspension systems for durability analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The benefits of vehicles with semi-active suspension systems have been widely accepted, mainly for improvement in ride and handling, over the passive system.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Modeling and Simulation of Eddy Current Dissipation Magnetic Acceleration Noise of Space Inertial Sensors

open access: yesSensors
The magnetic acceleration noise (MAN) that stems from the eddy current dissipation of a test mass (TM) serves as an important source of noise for space inertial sensors.
