Analysis of metal-plate-connected wood trusses with semi-rigid joints
Metal-plate-connected wood trusses with semi-rigid joints were investigated by the matrix method of structural analysis. The element-stiffness matrix and fixed-end forces of an individual member with one or both ends semi-rigid were derived as ...

Patterns of spinal motion, kinematic spaces and the land‐to‐sea transition in carnivorans
Using 3D reconstructions, we quantify intervertebral joint mobility to investigate how cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebral regions evolved distinct kinematic roles in pinnipeds. The findings reveal lineage‐specific adaptations for swimming and highlight the functional significance of vertebral joint flexibility in ecological transitions.

The behaviour of 2-D composite semi-rigid joints has been researched since the seventies, including experimental work, numerical models, analytical models and practical methods of analysis. However, one of the areas where research is still needed is in

Abstract The human mandibular symphysis concentrates multiaxial loads during function and remodels throughout growth, but the precise mechanisms underlying cortical bone shape during growth remain relatively unexplored. Approaches based solely on thickness or external cortical contours provide only partial insights and do not capture the functional ...

Abstract Macaws are renowned for processing dry, mechanically resistant fruits, yet the species‐level anatomical and functional correlates of this performance remain incompletely resolved. We examined the feeding apparatus of the Blue‐and‐yellow Macaw (Ara ararauna) using an integrated approach that combines osteology, myology, and bite‐force estimates

Research of pinned joints of steel structures reconstruction into semi-rigid joints.
The final Master's project analyses the reconstruction of pinned nodes into semi-rigid using finite element and component methods. The study analyses the influence of the reconstructed semi-rigid nodes on the individual elements and the global stability ...

Experimental analysis of king-post truss with semi-rigid joints
Joining wooden rafters with plywood gusset plates using helically threaded nails to form roof trusses has been widely developed in recent years. Actually, the nailed member has proven to be extremely strong and stiff, but it is not perfectly rigid.

The petrotympanic canal (Huguier canal): Evolutionary, anatomical, and medical perspectives
Abstract The petrotympanic canal, traditionally referred to as Civinini's or Huguier's canal, represents an anatomical passage connecting the middle ear and temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Despite its early description, its structural complexity and functional significance have often been underestimated. In this study, we combined historical, anatomical,
