Semi-Active Suspensions

2011
A semi-active ABW AWA suspension (Fig. 5.30) mechatronic control system is much less complex than an active ABW AWA suspension mechatronic control system, and may be manufactured at a lower cost [DAS 2006].

A modal control for active/semi-active suspension systems

2007 IEEE/ASME international conference on advanced intelligent mechatronics, 2007
Active/semi-active suspension systems are getting widely accepted for their potential to improve ride comfort of passenger cars with respect to traditional suspension systems. A feedback controller has been designed allowing to control separately the vehicle body motions of heave, pitch and roll taking into account the dynamics of the active/semi ...

Experimental analysis of a motorcycle semi-active rear suspension

open access: yesControl Engineering Practice, 2010
The topic of this paper is the experimental analysis and development of a control system for a semi-active suspension in a 2-wheel vehicle. The control system is implemented via a semi-active electro-hydraulic damper located in the rear suspension of a ...

Cloud aided semi-active suspension control

2014 IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence in Vehicles and Transportation Systems (CIVTS), 2014
This paper considers the problem of vehicle suspension control from the perspective of a Vehicle-to-Cloud-to-Vehicle (V2C2V) distributed implementation. A simplified variant of the problem is examined based on the linear quarter-car model of semi-active suspension dynamics.

A semi-active suspension embedded controller in a FPGA

International Symposium on Industrial Embedded System (SIES), 2010
This paper explores the applicability of a Piece-Wise Multilinear Fuzzy Inference System (PWM-FIS) to the realization of embedded digital controllers for semi-active suspension systems. The nonlinear controller, obtained by approximation of a modified Skyhook control strategy trough off-line training of the PWM-FIS, has been implemented in a Field ...

Mechatronic semi-active and active vehicle suspensions

Control Engineering Practice, 2004
After discussing various principles of suspensions with variable dampers and springs as well as active components, mathematical models of these systems are derived. It is shown how the unknown parameters can be obtained experimentally through parameter estimation by using body accelerometers, wheel accelerometers, and suspension deflection sensors in ...

Batch Reinforcement Learning for semi-active suspension control

2009 IEEE Control Applications, (CCA) & Intelligent Control, (ISIC), 2009
The object of this work is the design of a control strategy for semi-active suspension. In particular this paper explores the application of Batch Reinforcement Learning (BRL) to the design problem of optimal comfort oriented semiactive suspension. BRL is an artificial intelligence technique able to provide an approximate solution of optimal control ...

Semi-Active Suspension Laboratory System

Solid State Phenomena, 2009
The paper describes the semi-active suspension laboratory system (SAS), built to demonstrate and test a number of control algorithms. The heart of the system is the automotive engineering damper with the restoring force controlled by magnetic field.

Simulation and Evaluation of Semi-Active Suspensions

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1994
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A simulation of the vertical response of a nonlinear 1/4 car model consisting of a sprung and an unsprung mass was developed. It is being used for preliminary evaluation of various suspension configurations and control algorithms.

Modeling and Simulation of Semi-Active Suspension for Vehicle

2013
In order to shorten the development cycle of semi-active suspension, a batch processing modeling method is studied. 1/4 of the semi-active suspension model is constructed based on AMESim software in this modeling method. Through changing model’s parameters, the simulation results are compared and the system’s performance is analyzed.
