CW Cr2+:CdSe laser pumped by semiconductor disk laser

Bulletin of the Lebedev Physics Institute, 2012
An output power of 0.85 W with a differential efficiency with respect to absorbed pump power of 55.4% is achieved for a Cr2+:CdSe laser with a wavelength of 2.6 µm under optical pumping with a semiconductor disk laser with a wavelength of 1.98 µm.

Quantum dot semiconductor disk laser at 13  μm

Optics Letters, 2015
We present a semiconductor disk laser (SDL) emitting at the wavelength of 1.3 μm. The active region of the SDL comprises InAs quantum dots (QDs) that are embedded into InGaAs quantum wells (QWs). An output power over 200 mW is obtained at 15°C, which represents the highest output power reported from QD-based SDLs in this wavelength range.

Mode-locked semiconductor disk lasers

Advances in optics and photonics, 2016
This paper will review the recent advances in the field of ultrashort pulse generation from optically pumped vertical-external-cavity surface-emitting lasers (OP-VECSELs). In this review, we will summarize the most significant results presented over the last 15 years, before highlighting recent breakthroughs related to mode-locked VECSELs by different ...

Diode-pumped semiconductor disk laser

2002 Conference on Optoelectronic and Microelectronic Materials and Devices. COMMAD 2002. Proceedings (Cat. No.02EX601), 2005
Diode-pumped semiconductor disk lasers are based on the principle of diode-pumped solid-state disk lasers. This relatively new type of laser is also referred to as VECSEL (vertical external cavity surface emitting laser). Semiconductor disk lasers show excellent beam characteristics in combination with high output power.

Quantum-dot semiconductor disk lasers

Journal of Crystal Growth, 2008
Abstract We demonstrate quantum-dot (QD)-based, optically pumped semiconductor disk lasers (SDLs) for wavelengths ranging from 950 to 1210 nm. QDs grown either in the submonolayer (SML) or in the Stranski–Krastanow (SK) regime are employed as active layers of the SDLs which are based on two different design concepts.

High Power Semiconductor Disk Lasers

2006 IEEE LEOS Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2006
Results on high-power optically pumped semiconductor disk lasers are reviewed. Multi-Watt emission with differential efficiencies larger than 40% and power-densities up to 15 kW/cm2 is demonstrated in the near-infrared wavelength range of 920-1050nm.

DBR-free semiconductor disk lasers

CLEO: 2015, 2015
We demonstrate a novel DBR-free semiconductor disk laser, where multiple quantum well active region is fusion bonded directly onto a diamond heat spreader. CW output powers of 2.5 W have been demonstrated at 1150 nm.

Visible and ultraviolet semiconductor disk lasers

CLEO/Europe - EQEC 2009 - European Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics and the European Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009
Semiconductor disk lasers (SDLs), also known by the alternative name of vertical external cavity surface emitting lasers (VECSELs), have become established in recent years as an attractive new variant in continuous-wave (CW) or quasi-CW “solid state” laser technology [1–3].
