Localization and functional analysis of SeMNPV IE1 in mammalian cells

open access: yesVirologica Sinica, 2010
In this paper, the function of the ie1 gene from baculovirus Spodoptera exigua multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (SeMNPV), belonging to group II nucleopolyhedrovirus, was studied in mammalian cells. We amplified the SeMNPV ie1 gene and expressed it by fusing to the C terminal of enhanced GFP protein in HEK 293 cells.

Outcome of mixed DNA virus infections on Spodoptera exigua susceptibility to SeMNPV

Journal of Pest Science, 2018
Baculovirus-based biopesticides have been developed for an efficient control of lepidopteran pests; however, very few studies have assessed the effect of other viral microorganisms that might coexist with the applied baculovirus pesticide. Systematic studies are needed to predict the effect of such microorganisms on the baculovirus efficacy following ...

Physical map of SeMNPV baculovirus DNA: An AcMNPV genomic variant

Virology, 1984
A physical map of the plaque-purified SeMNPV-25 baculovirus DNA was constructed with HindIII, EcoRI, PstI, SstII, BstEII, BamHI, KpnI, and SmaI by multiple-enzyme digestion and DNA-DNA hybridization. The orientation of the physical map was to the AcMNPV polyhedrin gene, and a total of 104 restriction sites were ordered.

The function of SeMNPV IAP3 in mammalian cells

Virologica Sinica, 2008
The baculoviral inhibitors of apoptosis play a significant role in infectivity and viral host-range, which make them potential candidates for the engineering and improvement of baculovirus insecticidal. The iap3 gene of Spodoptera exigua nucleopolyhedrovirus (SeMNPV), amplified by PCR, was 939 bp encoding IAP3.

Identification and genomic sequence analysis of a new Spodoptera exigua multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus, SeMNPV-QD, isolated from Qingdao, China

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 2019
A new beet armyworm (Spodoptera exigua) multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus SeMNPV-QD was isolated from dead larvae in the field in Qingdao, Shandong, China. The virus has a polyhedron size of 1.39 ± 0.28 μm, and typical virions contain one to seven nucleocapsids per envelope. SeMNPV-QD only infects the larvae of S.

Efficacy of optical brightener formulations of Spodoptera exigua multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (SeMNPV) as a biological insecticide in greenhouses in southern Spain

Biological Control, 2007
Abstract The efficacy of optical brightener formulations of a native Spanish isolate of Spodoptera exigua multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (SeMNPV) was determined for control of S. exigua on greenhouse grown sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum) in Almeria, Spain.

AcMNPV enhances infection by ThorNPV in Sf21 cells and SeMNPV in Hi5 cells

Archives of Virology, 2012
An expression cassette containing the DsRed2 gene, which encodes the red fluorescent protein (RFP), was inserted into the wide-host-range Autographa californica M nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) at the polyhedrin locus (vAcDsRed2). An expression cassette containing the enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) gene was inserted at the gp37 locus of the ...

Biological Activity of SeMNPV, AcMNPV, and Three AcMNPV Deletion Mutants against Spodoptera exigua Larvae (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae)

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 2000
Virulence and speed of action, as related to dose, are important effectiveness-determining properties of insect-pathogenic biocontrol agents. We used the droplet-feeding bioassay to compare dose responses between two wild-type baculoviruses, Autographa californica multicapsid nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) and Spodoptera exigua MNPV (SeMNPV), and three ...
