3D Simulation of Superconducting Magnetic Shields and Lenses using the Fast Fourier Transform

open access: yes, 2018
Shielding sensitive scientific and medical devices from the magnetic field environment is one of the promising applications of superconductors. Magnetic field concentration by superconducting magnetic lenses is the opposite phenomenon based, however, on ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Studying the nonlinear mathematical model of the mechanical system “pipeline – pressure sensor”

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений. Поволжский регион: Физико-математические науки
Background. The primary element of the instrumentation for measuring the pressure of a gas-liquid medium is a sensor that supplies data on the pressure of the working medium, which determines the proper functioning of machines, mechanisms, and systems ...

Optimizing the Structure of Vector Bend and Strain Sensor on the Base of Three-Core Microstructured Fiber

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2012
In the paper the optical sensor allowing measuring a direction, values and localization of bends and stresses in building structures is described. The sensitive element of the sensor is the microstructured fiber with three cores.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Mathematical modeling of polymeric cover outgassing process in open space conditions

open access: yesТруды Института системного программирования РАН, 2019
A half-empiric mathematical model was elaborated to describe polymeric cover outgassing process in open space conditions. The calculation was carried out to estimate film thickness that arises as a result of gaseous products nonequilibrium condensation ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Flat tensile specimen design for advanced composites [PDF]

open access: yes
Finite element analyses of flat, reduced gage section tensile specimens with various transition region contours were performed. Within dimensional constraints, such as maximum length, tab region width, gage width, gage length, and minimum tab length, a ...

Isospin corrections for superallowed Fermi beta decay in self-consistent relativistic random phase approximation approaches

open access: yes, 2009
Self-consistent random phase approximation (RPA) approaches in the relativistic framework are applied to calculate the isospin symmetry-breaking corrections $\delta_c$ for the $0^+\to0^+$ superallowed transitions.
