Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

CREATION OF NEW ELEMENTS OF SENSOR STRUCTURES OF INFORMATION AND MEASUREMENT SYSTEMS BASED ON SILICON MICROPROCESSING TECHNOLOGIES

open access: yesИзмерение, мониторинг, управление, контроль
Background. The main protective masking layers used in the formation of sensors of information-measurement systems by anisotropic etching of silicon are described. Such layers include films of silicon dioxide and nitride applied to the surface of silicon

The most promising ways to measure V_ub [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
I review currently discussed methods to determine the CKM mixing matrix element $|V_{ub}|$ from experimental data. Although the theory of inclusive decays and their spectra has entered a model-independent stage, its predictions are still sensitive to ...

High resolution miniature dilatometer based on AFM piezocantilever

open access: yes, 2009
Thermal expansion, or dilation, is closely related to the specific heat, and provides useful information regarding material properties. The accurate measurement of dilation in confined spaces coupled with other limiting experimental environments such as ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Poisson equation and self-consistent periodical Anderson model

open access: yes, 2001
We show that the formally exact expression for the free energy (with a non-relativistic Hamiltonian) for the correlated metal generates the Poisson equation within the saddle-point approximation for the electric potential, where the charge density ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Interfacing of artificial hairs array for complex flow pattern recognition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper we report on the latest developments in characterising and interfacing biomimetic flow-sensor array based on the flow sensitive mechano-sensors of crickets.
