Variability of CO2-Sensitivity During Sleep

2001
The hypercapnic ventilatory response (HCVR) in man varies markedly during sleep. Rebreathing tests during well-defined sleep/wake states in adults showed that the HCVR was significantly reduced in all stages of sleep compared with wakefulness, falling to less than 50% of wakefulness during NREM sleep and less than 30% during REM sleep1.

Some alternative additive randomized response models for estimation of population mean of quantitative sensitive variable in the presence of scramble variable

Communications in statistics. Simulation and computation, 2018
This article addresses the estimation procedures of population mean related to the quantitative sensitive variable with the help of a randomized device which makes the use of blank cards in the randomization process.

An Omitted Variable Bias Framework for Sensitivity Analysis of Instrumental Variables

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2022
Abstract We develop an omitted variable bias framework for sensitivity analysis of instrumental variable estimates that naturally handles multiple side effects (violations of the exclusion restriction assumption) and confounders (violations of the ignorability of the instrument assumption) of the instrument, exploits expert knowledge to ...

Multipoint diffraction strain sensor with variable sensitivity

Applied Optics, 2007
In our earlier work, a multipoint diffraction strain sensor using a microlens array was developed for measurement of whole-field strains. The method is extended to a system with variable sensitivity and measurement range. In the present system, two collimated laser beams, 3 mm in diameter, symmetrically strike the grating attached to the specimen ...

Ecosystem sensitivity to climate variability

Proceedings. 2005 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2005. IGARSS '05., 2005
Assessments of ecosystem sensitivity to climate variability are mostly qualitative. However, understanding the complex interactions between climate and ecosystems requires a quantitative analysis. In the present study, we developed a quantitative approach to assess ecosystem sensitivity to climate variability.

Variable sensitivity shadow moire method

The Journal of Strain Analysis for Engineering Design, 1985
By simply rotating the reference grating in its own plane, the sensitivity of the shadow moire method can be continuously varied. This approach can additionally assist in distinguishing hills and valleys. Application to foot pressure measurement is demonstrated.

Redox-active Two-dimensional Covalent Organic Frameworks for Selective Reductive Separation of Valence-variable, Redox-sensitive and Long-lived Radionuclides.

Angewandte Chemie, 2019
Selective separation of valence-variable, redox-sensitive and long-lived radionuclides (abbreviated as VRL nuclides) produced by nuclear fission chain reaction in the reactor is difficult but important not only for the sustainable development of nuclear ...

Sensitivity Analysis and Variable Screening

2018
This chapter discusses sensitivity analysis and the related topic of variable screening. The setup is as follows. A vector of inputs \(\boldsymbol{x} = (x_{1},\ldots,x_{d})\) is given which potentially affects a “response” function \(y(\boldsymbol{x}) = y(x_{1},\ldots,x_{d})\). Sensitivity analysis seeks to quantify how variation in \(y(\boldsymbol{x})\

Variability in Heparin Sensitivity of APTT Reagents

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1986
Activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) is the most widely used coagulation test for monitoring heparin therapy. This study quantitates the differences in heparin sensitivity of seven commercially available APTT reagents, using plasma samples obtained from 20 subjects. The reagents studied were Actin, Actin FS, Automated APTT, Cephotest, Coagachek

Dynamic optical neurochip using variable-sensitivity photodiodes

Optics Letters, 1991
A novel type of a dynamic optical neurochip that uses sensitivity-variable photodiodes (VSPD's) as variable interconnection weight elements is proposed and analyzed. The chip consists of the line-shaped light-emitting diode array and the VSPD matrix array. A monolithic integration of these arrays is presented.
