Sensitivity and specificity for correlated observations

Statistics in Medicine, 1992
AbstractA general estimating equation approach is used to obtain estimates of sensitivity and specificity when the data consist of correlated binary outcomes. First order approximations to the variances of estimated sensitivity and specificity for prospective and retrospective studies are given.

Are Specific Allergen Sensitivities Inherited?

Current Allergy and Asthma Reports, 2010
A family history of an allergic condition is a well-accepted risk factor for the development of an allergic condition in an individual, particularly for allergic disorders such as asthma, eczema, and allergic rhinitis. However, the question of whether specific allergen sensitization is inherited requires a complicated answer, as environmental exposure ...

Comparison of sensitivity and specificity among 15 criteria for chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy

Muscle and Nerve, 2014
Introduction: There have been 15 formal sets of criteria published for the diagnosis of CIDP. No study to date has compared the sensitivity and specificity of all published criteria in the same patient population.

The sensitivity and specificity of MRI in stroke

Neurology, 1987
We compared MRI and CT in a study of 175 patients; 87 infarcts within a week, 40 from 1 to 40 weeks, 25 a year after onset, and 23 hemorrhages, 18 within 2 weeks and 5 in 4 to 8 weeks. Fifty-nine infarcts and eight hemorrhages had sequential scanning. MRI is more sensitive than CT in the early detection of cerebral infarcts.

Sensitivity and specificity of cerebrospinal fluid flow cytometry for the diagnosis of leukemic meningitis in acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma

Leukemia and Lymphoma, 2014
The presence of leukemic blasts detected by light microscopy in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) establishes the diagnosis of leukemic meningitis in acute lymphoblastic leukemia/lymphoma (ALL).

Lead Systems: Sensitivity and Specificity

Cardiology Clinics, 1984
In this article, the modified 12-lead system and the bipolar lead systems are discussed, both of which may provide adequate sensitivity and specificity of stress tests for clinical purposes. A single lead V5 or, preferably, bipolar modification of lead V5 may be adequate in certain situations in which cost or the type of population being tested ...

Sensitive and specific CRISPR diagnostics

Science, 2017
CRISPR Technology Methods are needed that can easily detect nucleic acids that signal the presence of pathogens, even at very low levels. Gootenberg et al. combined the allele-specific sensing ability of CRISPR-Cas13a with recombinase polymerase amplification methods to detect specific RNA and DNA sequences.

Sensitivity, Specificity, and Vaccine Efficacy

Controlled Clinical Trials, 1998
We study the effects of imperfect sensitivity and specificity on estimation of vaccine efficacy (VE). We show that a specificity of

Sensitivities and Specificities of Diagnostic Tests

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1982
To the Editor.— The article by Harris on "The Hazards of Bedside Bayes" (1981;236:2602) presents an important caution. However, it misrepresents the inherent variability in data on diagnostic tests that can be collected in well-designed studies, and may exaggerate the effective variability of data on tests now in the literature.
