Reinstatement of long-term memory following erasure of its behavioral and synaptic expression in Aplysia. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Long-term memory (LTM) is believed to be stored in the brain as changes in synaptic connections. Here, we show that LTM storage and synaptic change can be dissociated.

5,11‐Di(thiophen‐2‐yl)Tetracene: A Novel Tetracene Derivative for Efficient Singlet Fission with Enhanced Physical and Chemical Stability in Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, a new tetracene derivative, 5,11‐di(thiophen‐2‐yl)tetracene (2T‐Tc) is introduced, exhibiting enhanced physical and chemical stability, and retaining favorable singlet fission kinetics with near unity triplet pair yield in thin films.

Skin exposure promotes a Th2-dependent sensitization to peanut allergens.

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 2014
Sensitization to foods often occurs in infancy, without a known prior oral exposure, suggesting that alternative exposure routes contribute to food allergy.

Unique Performance Considerations for Printable Organic Semiconductor and Perovskite Radiation Detectors: Toward Consensus on Best Practice Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Dye‐Sensitized Solar Cells Inspired Method to Modulate Photo‐Induced Charge Transfer Efficiency for Enhancing the SERS Activity of Semiconductor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView., 2023
The conduction band (CB) edge and surface state energy level of TiO2 nanoparticles shift downward with increasing Li+ concentration, which facilitates the charge‐transfer interaction between the molecules and the surface enhanced Raman scattering substrates. Abstract While the Lithium ion modification strategy is widely adopted in tuning the bandgap of

H2O2‐Generating Advanced Nanomaterials for Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
H2O2‐generating nanoplatforms can exploit tumor redox imbalance for O2 and toxic reactive oxygen species generation, leading to hypoxia reversal, and apoptosis of cancer cells, respectively. This review highlights the mechanisms of these nanoplatforms, including exogenous H₂O₂ delivery, endogenous amplification, and metal peroxides, which leads to ...

Influence of shoulder pain on muscle function: implications for the assessment and therapy of shoulder disorders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Shoulder pain is often a challenging clinical phenomenon because of the potential mismatch between pathology and the perception of pain. Current evidence clearly emphasizes an incomplete understanding of the nature of shoulder pain. Indeed, the effective

Intramolecular Down‐ and Up‐Conversion in Dimeric Tetracene Complexes Centered via Platinum(II) and Palladium(II)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐tetracene dimeric complexes are synthesized through the pyridyl coordination to either Pt(II) or Pd(II). Photophysical properties are systematically compared as a function of the metal using steady‐state and time‐resolved spectroscopy. The Pt(II) dimer exhibits efficient intramolecular singlet fission and subsequent intramolecular up‐conversion ...

Accelerated habit formation following amphetamine exposure is reversed by D1, but enhanced by D2, receptor antagonists

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2013
Repeated exposure to the psychostimulant amphetamine has been shown to disrupt goal-directed instrumental actions and promote the early and abnormal development of goal-insensitive habitual responding (Nelson and Killcross, 2006).
