Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Equivalent Circuit Model of an Optomechanical MEMS Electric Field Strength Sensor

open access: yesProceedings, 2018
We present a simple equivalent circuit model for the transfer function of an optomechanical MEMS transducer capable of distortion-free electric field strength measurements. This model allows not only to qualitatively understand the characteristics of the

Agent-based framework for sensor-to-sensor personalization

open access: yesJournal of Computer and System Sciences, 2013
AbstractIn Wireless Sensor Networks, personalization has been seen by researchers as the process of tailoring services to fulfill requests of different users with different profiles. This vision ignores that individual sensors commonly have different profiles and contexts and therefore different needs. In this paper, we aim at extending personalization

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Printed, Flexible Lactate Sensors: Design Considerations Before Performing On-Body Measurements. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This work reports the process of sensor development, optimization, and characterization before the transition to on-body measurements can be made. Sensors using lactate oxidase as a sensing mechanism and tetrathiafulvalene as a mediator were optimized ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Novel 3D-Printed MEMS Magnetometer with Optical Detection

open access: yesProceedings, 2018
This paper reports a novel 3D printed MEMS magnetometer with optical readout, which demonstrates the advantages of 3D printing technology in terms of rapid prototyping. Low-cost and fast product development cycles favour 3D printing as an effective tool.

A New Distributed Localization Method for Sensor Networks

open access: yes, 2013
This paper studies the problem of determining the sensor locations in a large sensor network using relative distance (range) measurements only. Our work follows from a seminal paper by Khan et al.
