Optimization of beam patterns for acoustic array sensors

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 1994
Abstract Acoustic sensors comprising beam-forming and electronic scanning equipment typically use a cylindrical multi-element transducer. When received signals are added without any delays, a wide-beam sensor is obtained. Unfortunately, the shape of the beam and the level of the side lobes is often far from satisfactory.

Large-Scale Optimal Sensor Array Management for Multitarget Tracking

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Part C (Applications and Reviews), 2007
In this paper, we are concerned with the problem of utilizing a large network of sensors in order to track multiple targets. Large-scale sensor array management has applications in a number of target tracking domains. For example, in ground target tracking, hundreds or even thousands of unattended ground sensors may be dropped over a large surveillance

Optimization of adaptive linear sensor node array in Wireless Sensor Network

2009 Asia Pacific Microwave Conference, 2009
This paper presents a method of optimizing sensor node coordination in order to reassign the nodes in linear array arrangement to form a linear antenna array. This linear sensor node array (LSNA) is constructed within random sensor node deployment.

About estimation of optimal number of sensors in sensor array system based on PARAFAC decomposition

2012 8th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks & Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP), 2012
Identification of multiple sources in sensor array system can be accomplished by a powerful multilinear algebra model, PARAFAC (parallel factor) decomposition. To guarantee the accuracy of the identification of close sources (the smallest angle difference is 1°) by PARAFAC algorithm, increasing the number of sensors is a solution.

Design and optimization of nanogap array sensors

2008
We present a percolation based model which is suitable for the design of sensors based on highly ordered nanogap arrays. Monte-Carlo simulations and analytical expressions are used to calculate the sensitivity and dynamic range as a function of the topology and geometry of the arrays, as well as the statistical distribution of the thresholds for ...

Greedy Optimization of Sensor Array Geometry for Magnetocardiographic Source Localization

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering
Until recently, magnetocardiography (MCG) studies were performed using SQUID systems, consisting of a planar array of sensors with uniform spacing. The introduction of optically-pumped magnetometers (OPMs) now enables the deployment of large, conformal arrays, in which the sensors can be mounted on a wearable vest at nearly any location.

An Interpretable Sensor Selection Strategy for Array Optimization and Performance Enhancement

ACS Sensors
As more sensors are integrated into electronic nose (E-nose) systems to enhance gas detection accuracy, multitasking capabilities, and expand application scenarios, several challenges arise. These challenges include issues such as cross-sensitivity, increased hardware cost, heightened computational complexity, and information redundancy, due to the ...
