Overview of Position-Sensorless Technology for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Systems
In recent years, permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) have been widely used in industry. Position-sensorless control has the advantages of reducing costs and improving reliability, and is becoming one of the most promising technologies for ...

This paper proposes an adaptive‐velocity sensorless control strategy for freight trains using multiple electric locomotives operating under external disturbances. The control strategy is designed based on a non‐recursive control framework with a time‐varying control parameter. The elimination of velocity sensors is achieved through a high‐gain observer

Sensorless control of the synchronous reluctance motor [PDF]
In this paper a sensorless closed-loop speed control for the synchronous reluctance motor is presented. The sensorless control is based on the torque vector control algorithm. It has been implemented using a high-speed digital processor DSP96002. Experimental results for a 120 W axially-laminated synchronous reluctance motor are presented and compared ...

Sensorless fault tolerant control for induction motors [PDF]
In this paper, a sensorless fault tolerant controller for induction motors is developed. In the proposed approach, a robust controller based on backstepping strategy is designed in order to compensate both the load torque disturbance and the rotor resistance variations caused by the broken rotor bars faults.

This paper proposes a hybrid sensorless control strategy for a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG)‐based wind energy conversion system (WECS). The approach integrates finite‐set predictive current control (FS‐PCC), a model reference adaptive system (MRAS) estimator and an optimal torque control maximum power point tracking (MPPT‐OTC) method ...

Sensorless Finite-Control Set Model Predictive Control for IPMSM Drives [PDF]
This paper investigates the feasibility of a sensorless field oriented control (FOC) combined with a finite control set model predictive current control (FCS-MPC) for an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM). The use of a FCS-MPC makes the implementation of most of the existing sensorless techniques difficult due to the lack of a ...

Speed‐Sensorless Model‐Free Predictive Torque Control for Induction Motor Drive
A speed‐sensorless MF‐PTC based on EKF is proposed for a 2L‐VSI‐fed IM drive to reduce the overall cost and complexity of the drive system. The rotor speed is estimated using the EKF. The instant rotor flux is also estimated using the EKF based on the rotor current model of IM, whereas a direct machine model is employed in general to estimate the rotor

Design of an Adaptive Flux Observer for Sensorless Switched Reluctance Motors Using Lyapunov Theory
This paper proposes an adaptive flux observer for a sensorless switched reluctance motor. The observer adaptive gains are designed using the Lyapunov theory to guarantee both the accuracy and stability of the sensorless control of a switched reluctance
