Infection Models for Pine Wilt Disease on the Basis of Vector Behaviors

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
Infection models for pine wilt disease without vector density were built to estimate the transmission coefficient of the pathogenic nematode. The models successfully simulated the annual change in the density of infected trees for four pine stands. ABSTRACT Pine wilt disease is caused by the pinewood nematode (Bursaphelenchus xylophilus Steiner et ...

Model Order Selection for Collision Multiplicity Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The collision multiplicity (CM) is the number of users involved in a collision. The CM estimation is an essential step in multi-packet reception (MPR) techniques and in collision resolution (CR) methods.

ERBIN limits epithelial cell plasticity via suppression of TGF‐β signaling

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In breast and lung cancer patients, low ERBIN expression correlates with poor clinical outcomes. Here, we show that ERBIN inhibits TGF‐β‐induced epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in NMuMG breast and A549 lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. ERBIN suppresses TGF‐β/SMAD signaling and reduces TGF‐β‐induced ERK phosphorylation.

Underdetermined blind source separation based on third‐order cumulant and tensor compression

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar & Navigation
A method for Underdetermined Blind Source Separation is proposed using third‐order cumulants and tensor compression. To effectively suppress symmetrical distributed noise, the third‐order cumulant is considered.

A three-dimensional feature extraction-based method for coal cleat characterization using X-ray μCT and its application to a Bowen Basin coal specimen

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
Cleats are the dominant micro-fracture network controlling the macro-mechanical behavior of coal. Improved understanding of the spatial characteristics of cleat networks is therefore important to the coal mining industry. Discrete fracture networks (DFNs)

Who leaves, who stays? Gendered routes out of the family home following union dissolution in Italy

open access: yesDemographic Research, 2019
Objective: This study focuses on couples in Italy who experienced union dissolution between 2005 and 2014 and investigates the existence of gendered routes out of the family home upon separation.

C‐mannosylation promotes ADAMTS1 activation and secretion in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
C‐mannosylation is a unique form of protein glycosylation. In this study, we demonstrated that ADAMTS1 is C‐mannosylated at Trp562 and Trp565 in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells. We found that C‐mannosylation of ADAMTS1 is essential for its secretion, processing, enzymatic activity, and ability to promote vasculogenic mimicry. These findings

The impact of lens galaxy environments on the image separation distribution

open access: yes, 2005
We study the impact of lens galaxy environments on the image separation distribution of lensed quasars. We account for both environmental convergence and shear, using a joint distribution derived from galaxy formation models calibrated by galaxy-galaxy ...
