Separatrix shape of field-reversed configuration

Physics of Plasmas, 2010
A method of determining three parameters of a separatrix shape on a field-reversed configuration plasma is described. The three parameters are center radius a, length b (half-distance between X-points), and shape index n when the separatrix radius rs is approximated by the radial position derived from the relationship r2/a2+|z|n/bn=1.

Separatrix Shape of Field-Reversed Configurations

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1995
Near-infrared radiation from a field-reversed-configuration (FRC) plasma is observed during the stable phase using optical fiber tubes. Internal structure of the FRC is estimated from an Abel inversion of the radiation intensities which are obtained from the vertical array of the fibers. It is confirmed that the structure has a concave form at the core

Separatrix shape measurement on field-reversed configuration plasmas

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2003
In order to determine the separatrix shapes of field-reversed configuration plasmas with high accuracy, an iterative method that compares measured magnetic fluxes with the solution of the Grad–Shafranov equation is discussed in detail. Several suggestions for successfully treating the iterative method are given using numerical simulation and a mock-up ...

Beta value at separatrix of field-reversed configuration

Physics of Plasmas, 2009
A pressure profile inside and outside a separatrix of a field-reversed configuration is determined by comparing three types of assumed pressure profiles with the radial profile of bremsstrahlung. It is found that the pressure profile is flatter near the field null than the rigid rotor profile.

Numerical Confirmation of Closed Separatrix in Experimental Field Reversed Configurations

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1986
Field reversed configurations in recent experiments such as FRX-C, OCT and NUCTE are numerically studied by solving the Grad-Shafrarnov equation. The beta profiles used in the calculation have been inferred from the experimental data with use of one dimensional model of FRC. The calculated values of the separatrix radii well agree with the experimental
