On the history of the development of Sephadex® [PDF]

open access: possibleChromatographia, 1987
The creative and stimulating atmosphere in the laboratories of The Svedberg and Arne Tiselius in the Departments of Physical Chemistry and Biochemistry of Uppsala University during the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's, was a nursery for a remarkable set of both academic and industrial advances.

Fractionation of starch dextrins on sephadex

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1962
Abstract Partial resolution of a number of starch dextrins on Sephadex columns was achieved. The dextrins examined were Naegeli amylodextrin, an α-amylase digest of amylose and soluble starch. Resolution according to molecular size was demonstrated in these systems by iodine-staining power and by paper chromatography. Amylodextrin could be completely

Sephadex® induced granulomatous reaction in rats

Experimental and Toxicologic Pathology, 1995
Granuloma formation in the rat lung after single or repeated i.v. injections, intratracheal instillation and intradermal implantation of Sephadex beads was studied over a time period from 3 h to 3 mo. Macrophages were identified with the mAB ED1, vascular smooth muscle cells with an mAB against alpha SMC-actin, endothelial cells with a polyclonal AB ...

Isolation and Determination of Polymeric Polyphenols Using Sephadex LH-20 and Analysis of Grape Tissue Extracts

American Journal of Enology and Viticulture, 1990
A simple chromatographic method using Sephadex LH-20 was developed to separate non-polymeric and polymeric phenols. Non-polymeric phenols are eluted from the gel by 60% methanol.

CHROMATOGRAPHIC BEHAVIOR OF HISTONES ON SEPHADEX AND CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE

Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1964
The chromatographic behavior of calf thymus histone on different grades of Sephadex with varying degrees of cross-linkages has been studied. Fractions of histone obtained by preliminary separation on carboxymethylcellulose were characterized by chromatography on Sephadex and by electrophoresis on gels of starch and polyacrylamide. Analytical separation

A sephadex extraction of urinary steroid conjugates

Steroids, 1966
Abstract A simple method for the isolation of the C 19 and C 21 steroid conjugates from urine with Sephadex G-50 (coarse) is described. Following contraction of the urine volume by Sephadex, the Sephadex cake was washed with ethanol: methanoi (1:1 v/v) mixture and this was added to the contracted urine sample and evaporated to dryness.

[57] Chromatography of folates on sephadex G-10

Journal of Chromatography A, 1976
Folates have been separated on columns of Sephadex G-10 using spectrophotometric and microbiological detection with Lactobacillus casei. The method is suitable especially for the separation of folic acid from other folates, and of dihydrofolic acid derivatives from their tetrahydrofolic acid forms.

RINm5F cell culture on sephadex derivatives

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1993
AbstractInteractions between polystyrene sodium sulfonate and insulin‐secreting RINm5F cells have been previously described. When cultured on these microcarriers, cells exhibited normal growth, altered morphology, and inhibition of the insulin secretion was observed.

The purification of hyaluronate lyase on DEAE-Sephadex

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1963
Abstract Hyaluronate lyase of testicular origin has been obtained as an active, electrophoretically homogeneous enzymic preparation by means of the ion-exchanger DEAE-Sephadex (A-50 medium). The conditions under which the crude preparation containing 4–5 electrophoretic fractions was obtained, the preparation of the ion-exchange column and the ...
