Respective roles of porto-septal fibrosis and centrilobular fibrosis in alcoholic liver disease

Journal of Pathology, 2003
AbstractIn alcoholic liver disease, fibrosis classically begins around the centrilobular veins, while portal tract fibrosis is described as inconstant and septal fibrosis is a late event. The aim of this study was to compare the roles of centrilobular fibrosis (CLF) and portal tract/septal fibrosis (PTF) especially in alcoholic chronic liver disease ...

Role of septal fibrosis in development of hepatic circulatory disturbance in the presence of liver cell enlargement

Liver, 1992
Abstract: The effect of septal fibrosis on hepatic circulation was examined in rats with enlarged liver cells. Septal fibrosis was produced by horse serum injections and liver cell enlargement by a choline‐deficient diet. Septal fibrosis alone did not induce any disturbance of hepatic circulation.

Pulmonary strongyloidiasis presenting as chronic bronchitis leading to interlobular septal fibrosis and cured by treatment

Respirology, 2003
Abstract:  Two patients presented with long‐standing chronic bronchitis and exertional dyspnoea of 5 and 3 months’ duration, respectively, and had interlobular septal fibrosis on chest high resolution CT. In the past both had lived in areas in which Strongyloides stercoralis was known to be endemic.

Septal notch plus loss of the septal q wave: A potential early ECG sign suggestive of interstitial septal fibrosis in heart disease

Journal of Electrocardiology
Early detection of interstitial septal fibrosis remains challenging. We describe a novel ECG pattern that may represent an early marker of fibrotic conduction changes. We evaluated a case demonstrating a triphasic QRS sequence evolving from narrow QRS (88 ms) to complete LBBB-like pattern (160 ms) within three beats.

Right bundle branch block and ventricular septal fibrosis in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Journal of Electrocardiology, 2014
Right bundle branch block (RBBB) is associated with ventricular septal fibrosis in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) after alcohol septal ablation, but little data are available in HCM patients without a history of septal ablation.Magnetic resonance late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) was performed in 59 HCM patients with no history of ...

Significance of septal fibrosis for disturbance of hepatic circulation

Liver, 1992
Abstract: To examine the significance of fibrous septa of the liver for hepatic circulatory disturbance, haemodynamic changes were investigated in rats with septal fibrosis induced with horse serum injections. The fibrotic liver showed thin fibrous bands originating in the vicinity of the peripheral branches of the hepatic vein connected with each ...
