From Lab to Landscape: Environmental Biohybrid Robotics for Ecological Futures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This Perspective explores environmental biohybrid robotics, integrating living tissues, microorganisms, and insects for operation in real‐world ecosystems. It traces the leap from laboratory experiments to forests, wetlands, and urban environments and discusses key challenges, development pathways, and opportunities for ecological monitoring and ...

Cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway confers protective effects in septic shock rats

open access: yesSTEMedicine
Background: Septic shock can lead to multiple organ dysfunction. The cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway is known to prevent organ damage from infection by modulating the inflammatory response.

RETREG1‐Mediated Reticulophagy is Essential for Dendritic Cell Maturation and Function in Sepsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Reticulophagy regulator 1 (RETREG1) maintains dendritic cell (DC) maturation and function in early sepsis. Mechanistically, activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) acts as a direct transcription factor regulating RETREG1 expression in response to sepsis‐induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress.

Noninvasive ventilation failure in patients with hypoxemic respiratory failure: the role of sepsis and septic shock

open access: yesTherapeutic Advances in Respiratory Disease, 2019
Background: Sepsis and septic shock are common in noninvasive ventilation (NIV) patients. However, studies on the association between sepsis and NIV failure are lacking.

About adaptive state knowledge extraction for septic shock mortality prediction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The early prediction of mortality is one of the unresolved tasks in intensive care medicine. This contribution models medical symptoms as observations cased by transitions between hidden markov states.

Delta neutrophil index as an early marker of disease severity in critically ill patients with sepsis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
BACKGROUND: The immature granulocyte count has been reported to be a marker of infection and sepsis. The difference in leukocyte subfractions (delta neutrophil index, DNI) in ADVIA 2120 reflects the fraction of circulating immature granulocytes in the ...

Integrated Single‐Cell and Spatial Transcriptomics Reveal Cell‐Type‐Specific Immune Regulatory Networks in Maize Responding to Southern Corn Rust

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By integrating single‐nuclei and spatial transcriptomics, this study presents a stereoscopic landscape of maize leaf to Puccinia polysora infection. Epidermal and mesophyll cells initiate primary defenses via RLPs/RLKs and jasmonic acid signaling. Cell‐cell communication analyses further reveal the underlying the dynamics of the underlying immune ...

MicroRNA-203 Acts as a Potent Suppressor in Septic Shock by Alleviating Lung Injury via Inhibition of VNN1

open access: yesKidney & Blood Pressure Research, 2019
Background: Septic shock, the most serious complication of sepsis, is a life-threatening disease that is mainly characterized by hypoperfusion and multiple organ failure. Various aberrantly expressed microRNAs (miRNAs) have been reported to be related to

Engineering Osteoimmune Responses with Functionalized Orthopedic Implants for Post‐Operative Osteosarcoma Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Osteosarcoma is the most common primary bone tumor with limited treatment options and a terrible prognosis. This review provides a comprehensive summary of the recent development of osteoimmunomodulatory implants for post‐operative osteosarcoma treatment, of which the potential utility in evoking durable anti‐osteosarcoma immunity and accelerating bone
