A simple model of a sequence-reading diffusion: non-self-averaging and self-averaging properties
Motivated by a question about the sensitivity of knots’ diffusive motion to the actual sequence of nucleotides placed on a given DNA, here we study a simple model of a sequence-reading diffusion on a stretched chain with a frozen sequence of ‘letters’ A ...

Is Medoid Suitable for Averaging GPS Trajectories?
Averaging GPS trajectories is needed in applications such as clustering and automatic extraction of road segments. Calculating mean for trajectories and other time series data is non-trivial and shown to be an NP-hard problem.

Three Rapid Methods for Averaging GPS Segments
Extracting road segments by averaging GPS trajectories is very challenging. Most existing averaging strategies suffer from high complexity, poor accuracy, or both.

Attention-Based 3D Human Pose Sequence Refinement Network
Three-dimensional human mesh reconstruction from a single video has made much progress in recent years due to the advances in deep learning. However, previous methods still often reconstruct temporally noisy pose and mesh sequences given in-the-wild ...

Trial-level sequence modeling reveals hidden dynamics of dual-task interference. [PDF]
Theories of dual-task interference assume that the same cognitive operations underlie multitasking regardless of stimulus timing, yet this core assumption has remained untested due to methodological limitations of behavioral averaging.

METHOD FOR STEP-BY-STEP ADAPTATION OF THE WIDTH OF MEASUREMENT INTERVAL TO SIGNAL PARAMETERS [PDF]
It is indicated that the known methods for measuring some initial signal lead to errors if the width of the measuring intervals does not step by step adapt to changing signal parameters. A new approach to measurement is used, revealing a unified physical

In the spirit of Goodman-Plante average condition for the existence of a transverse invariant measure for foliations, we give an averaging condition to find tangentially smooth measures with prescribed Radon-Nikodym cocycle. Harmonic measures are examples of tangentially smooth measures for foliations and laminations.

In this work, we investigate a minimization problem with a convex objective function on a domain, which is the solution set of a common fixed point problem with a finite family of nonexpansive mappings.

Molecular evolution in introduced insect species—a mitochondrial perspective
Introduced species provide the opportunity to study evolutionary change on short time scales—a key first step to understand and manage the ecosystem-level impact of invasions.

Determination of the spent fuel decay heat with the VERA core simulator
VERA core simulator capabilities to predict spent fuel decay heat have been explored. The comparison with the Serpent2 and NEWT/TRITON sequence from the SCALE package, performed on the NPP Krško fuel test cases, has enabled independent verification of ...
