Separating arterial pressure increases and decreases in assessing cardiac baroreflex sensitivity via sequence and bivariate phase rectified signal averaging techniques

open access: yes, 2018
Cardiac baroreflex (cBR) is activated by both arterial pressure (AP) increases and decreases. Sequence method, a widely utilized tool assessing cBR sensitivity (cBRS) from spontaneous heart period (HP) and systolic AP (SAP) variations, allows the ...

Coded excitation speeds up the detection of the fundamental flexural guided wave in coated tubes

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
The fundamental flexural guided wave (FFGW) permits ultrasonic assessment of the wall thickness of solid waveguides, such as tubes or, e.g., long cortical bones. Recently, an optical non-contact method was proposed for ultrasound excitation and detection

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Finding novel vulnerabilities of hypomorphic BRCA1 alleles

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Synthetic lethality screens performed to identify novel vulnerabilities often model complete gene loss, thereby overlooking patient‐derived hypomorphic mutations. In this study, we have performed genome‐wide CRISPR screens on BRCA1 hypomorphic mutations, showing BRCA1I26A behaves like wild‐type, while BRCA1R1699Q mimics deficiency. Furthermore, we have

Phase averaging in one-dimensional random systems

open access: yes, 1982
We calculate the resistance of a random sequence of scatterers and show that, in general, the phase uncertainty does not increase with the length of the wire.

Estimates of evolutionary divergence over sequence pairs between clades.

open access: yes, 2019
The number of base substitutions per site from averaging over all sequence pairs between groups are shown. Standard error estimate(s) are shown above the diagonal.

Longitudinal genome‐wide aneuploidy measurements in circulating cell‐free DNA to predict lack of benefit from pembrolizumab in patients with metastatic urothelial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Many patients with urothelial cancer do not benefit from treatment with pembrolizumab, while at risk of severe side effects. Changes in the levels of circulating tumor DNA early during treatment, measured by a simple and affordable assay that can be easily implemented in the clinic, can be used as a prognostic tool to identify these patients.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Selective Averaging of Cognitive Evoked Potentials

open access: yes, 2007
This work is about the development of an alternative way of averaging evoked potentials (EP) of cognitive activities. Since the main assumption of invariant waveforms time locked to the elicting events does not hold for cognitive EPs, averaging results ...
