Sequence similarity estimation by random subsequence sketching
AbstractSequence similarity estimation is essential for many bioinformatics tasks, including functional annotation, phylogenetic analysis, and overlap graph construction. Alignment-free methods aim to solve large-scale sequence similarity estimation by mapping sequences to more easily comparable features that can approximate edit distances efficiently.

Ruining, demolition and regeneration in urban space: Sketching the research problem
The paper is intended to examine fundamental research problems connected with two processes that currently feature in urban space: demolition and regeneration as well as relationships between them seen from the perspective of diverse conceptual and ...

Sketching data structures for alignment-free analysis of genomic sequences
Sequence comparison is one of the fundamental concepts of bioinformatics. Alignment-free algorithms representing sequences as (multi-)sets of their constituent k-mers are widely used in practice due to their simplicity and speed. However, exact data structures storing k-mer multiplicities are usually sub-optimal as they do not take advantage of the ...

StrokeFusion: Vector Sketch Generation via Joint Stroke-UDF Encoding and Latent Sequence Diffusion
In the field of sketch generation, raster-format trained models often produce non-stroke artifacts, while vector-format trained models typically lack a holistic understanding of sketches, leading to compromised recognizability. Moreover, existing methods struggle to extract common features from similar elements (e.g., eyes of animals) appearing at ...

We introduce the concept of a subjective camera to reconstruct meaningful moments that physical cameras fail to capture. We propose Subjective Camera 1.0, a framework for reconstructing real-world scenes from readily accessible subjective readouts, i.e., textual descriptions and progressively drawn rough sketches.
