Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Modification of the WaldBoost algorithm to improve the efficiency of solving pattern recognition problems in real-time

open access: yesРоссийский технологический журнал, 2019
The implementation of the WaldBoost algorithm is considered, and its modification is proposed, which allows to significantly reduce the number of weak classifiers to achieve a given classification accuracy.

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

Large Deviation Algorithms for Thresholding Bandit Problem

open access: yesBig Data Mining and Analytics
The Thresholding Bandit (TB) problem is a popular sequential decision-making problem, which aims at identifying the systems whose means are greater than a threshold.

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

TESTING OF CYCLIC STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN SWITCHING REGIME VECTOR AUTOREGRESSIVE MODELS

open access: yesInformatika, 2016
For vector autoregressive models RS-VARX with cyclic regime switching of states the method of excluding of short-term system state fluctuations is proposed.

Neural Signatures of Rational and Heuristic Choice Strategies: A Single Trial ERP Analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2017
In multi-attribute choice, people use heuristics to simplify decision problems. We studied the use of heuristic and rational strategies and their electrophysiological correlates.

A Comparison of Decision Analysis and Expert Rules for Sequential Diagnosis

open access: yes, 2013
There has long been debate about the relative merits of decision theoretic methods and heuristic rule-based approaches for reasoning under uncertainty. We report an experimental comparison of the performance of the two approaches to troubleshooting, specifically to test selection for fault diagnosis.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
