The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Residue feature analysis with empirical mode decomposition for mining spatial sequential patterns from serial remote sensing images

open access: yesНаучно-технический вестник информационных технологий, механики и оптики
An extensive growth of serial remote sensing images paves the way for abundant data intended for the sequential spatial pattern determination in several fields like monitoring of agriculture, development of urban areas, and the vegetative area.

Efficiently Approximating Top- $k$ Sequential Patterns in Transactional Graphs

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In real-world networks, an edge (or vertex) may be associated with a transaction database, where each transaction consists of a set of items to describe the attributes or behaviors of the edge (or vertex).

Discovering Travel Spatiotemporal Pattern Based on Sequential Events Similarity

open access: yesComplexity, 2020
Travel route preferences can strongly interact with the events that happened in networked traveling, and this coevolving phenomena are essential in providing theoretical foundations for travel route recommendation and predicting collective behaviour in ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Discovering sequential patterns and interrelations among multiple diseases in electronic medical records using cSPADE algorithm

open access: yesArchives of Public Health
Background The intricate relationships between diseases are characterized by the sequence and temporal intervals of their onset, which are critical for understanding the essence of comorbidity and predicting disease progression.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

An Algorithm for Mining Strong Negative Fuzzy Sequential Patterns

open access: yes, 2013
Many methods have been proposed for mining fuzzy sequential patterns. However, most of conventional methods only consider the occurrences of fuzzy itemsets in sequences.
