Abstract figure legend Overview of multiscale cardiac remodelling in type 2 diabetes and how to model and simulate these changes using a human‐based, multiscale computational framework. Cardiac remodelling in type 2 diabetes occurs at ionic channel, protein, cellular, tissue and whole‐organ level, affecting the electrophysiological function, mechanical

Abstract figure legend Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles that continuously remodel their architecture through coordinated cycles of fusion and fission. This review examines the four key GTPases that orchestrate mitochondrial dynamics in mammals: MFN1, MFN2, OPA1, and DRP1.

Abstract figure legend Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) variants in N terminal (NTD) and central domain (CD) but not pore domain induce a pathological RyR2 conformational shift upon protein kinase A (PKA) phosphorylation, similar to that seen in heart failure (HF), calcium/calmodulin‐dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII ...

Rats with Chronic, Stable Pulmonary Hypertension Tolerate Low Dose Sevoflurane Inhalation as Well as Normal Rats Do. [PDF]
BACKGROUND:The effects of low concentration of sevoflurane on right ventricular (RV) function and intracellular calcium in the setting of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) have not been investigated clearly.

Hypercholesterolemia is associated with hyperactive cardiac mTORC1 and mTORC2 signaling [PDF]
Nutritional excess and hyperlipidemia increase the heart’s susceptibility to ischemic injury. Mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) controls the cellular response to nutritional status and may play a role in ischemic injury.

Insulin-like growth factor 2 overexpression induces β-Cell dysfunction and increases beta-cell susceptibility to damage [PDF]
The human insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) and insulin genes are located within the same genomic region. Although human genomic studies have demonstrated associations between diabetes and the insulin/IGF2 locus or the IGF2 mRNA-binding protein 2 ...

Lithium suppresses epidermal SERCA2 and PMR1 levels in the rat
Autosomal dominant mutations in the genes encoding the calcium ATPases SERCA2 and PMRI/SPCA1 cause the genodermatoses Darier disease (DD) and Hailey-Hailey disease (HHD), respectively. Recent observations indicated that the level of the pathogenic proteins greatly decreases in the affected areas of the epidermis in these disorders.
