Serine/arginine-rich splicing factor 7 regulates p21-dependent growth arrest in colon cancer cells

open access: yesThe Journal of Medical Investigation, 2016
Serine/arginine-rich splicing factors (SRSFs) play wide-ranging roles in gene expression through post-transcriptional regulation as well as pre-mRNA splicing. SRSF7 was highly expressed in colon cancer tissues, and its knockdown inhibited cell growth in colon cancer cells (HCT116) in association with altered expression of 4,499 genes.

Deletion of serine/arginine‐rich splicing factor 3 in hepatocytes predisposes to hepatocellular carcinoma in mice [PDF]

open access: yesHepatology, 2014
Alterations in RNA splicing are associated with cancer, but it is not clear whether they result from malignant transformation or have a causative role. We show here that hepatocyte‐specific deletion of serine/arginine‐rich splicing factor 3 (SRSF3) impairs hepatocyte maturation and metabolism in early adult life, and mice ...

A novel CDX2 isoform regulates alternative splicing. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Gene expression is a dynamic and coordinated process coupling transcription with pre-mRNA processing. This regulation enables tissue-specific transcription factors to induce expression of specific transcripts that are subsequently amplified by ...

Rumen Mycobiome Thiamine Metabolism Contributes to Subacute Rumen Acidosis Tolerance in Goats Through Enhancing Epithelial Cell Proliferation via IGFBP2/IGF1 Axis Activation

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of the mechanism underlying the differences between SARA‐susceptible and SARA‐tolerant dairy goats fed a high‐concentrate diet. SARA‐susceptible goats (HCS) exhibit low rumen pH and metabolic decline, characterized by epithelial inflammation.

The adipogenic transcriptional cofactor ZNF638 interacts with splicing regulators and influences alternative splicing

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2014
Increasing evidence indicates that transcription and alternative splicing are coordinated processes; however, our knowledge of specific factors implicated in both functions during the process of adipocyte differentiation is limited.

The type 2C Ser/Thr phosphatase PP2C gamma is a pre-mRNA splicing factor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
To identify activities involved in human pre-mRNA splicing, we have developed a procedure to separate HeLa cell nuclear extract into five complementing fractions.

Oncogenic KRAS Rewires Stress Granule Dynamics: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stress granules (SGs) are dynamic, membrane‐less structures that form in response to various cellular stresses, including metabolic, oxidative, and therapeutic challenges. They function as adaptive hubs and reorganize protein synthesis and signaling networks to help cells survive under stress. In cancer, these condensates are often hijacked to

Phosphorylation Regulates In Vivo Interaction and Molecular Targeting of Serine/Arginine-rich Pre-mRNA Splicing Factors [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Cell Biology, 1999
The SR superfamily of splicing factors and regulators is characterized by arginine/serine (RS)-rich domains, which are extensively modified by phosphorylation in cells. In vitro binding studies revealed that RS domain–mediated protein interactions can be differentially affected by phosphorylation.

Serine/Arginine-Rich Splicing Factor 7 Knockdown Inhibits Aerobic Glycolysis and Growth in HepG2 Cells by Regulating PKM2 Expression

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology
Serine/arginine-rich splicing factors (SRSFs), part of the serine/arginine-rich (SR) protein family, play a crucial role in precursor RNA splicing. Abnormal expression of SRSFs in tumors can disrupt normal RNA splicing, contributing to tumor progression.

Abscisic Acid (ABA) Regulation of Arabidopsis SR Protein Gene Expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Serine/arginine-rich (SR) proteins are major modulators of alternative splicing, a key generator of proteomic diversity and flexible means of regulating gene expression likely to be crucial in plant environmental responses.
