Gut microbiota-derived D-serine protects against acute kidney injury.

open access: yesJCI Insight, 2018
Gut microbiota-derived metabolites play important roles in health and disease. D-amino acids and their L-forms are metabolites of gut microbiota with distinct functions.

Ionization behavior of the histidine residue in the catalytic triad of serine proteases [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
α-Lytic protease is a homologue of the mammalian serine proteases such as trypsin, chymotrypsin, and elastase, and its single histidine residue belongs to the Asp-His-Ser catalytic triad. This single histidine residue has been selectively enriched in the

Gutzwiller-Jastrow Wavefunctions for the $1/r$ Hubbard Model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1993
In this work, we study the wavefunctions of the one dimensional $1/r$ Hubbard model in the strong interaction limit $U =\infty$. A set of Gutzwiller-Jastorw wavefunctions are shown to be eigen-functions of the Hamiltonian. The entire excitation spectrum and the thermodynamics are also studied in terms of more generalized Jastrow wavefunctions.

The Glycerate and Phosphorylated Pathways of Serine Synthesis in Plants: The Branches of Plant Glycolysis Linking Carbon and Nitrogen Metabolism

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
Serine metabolism in plants has been studied mostly in relation to photorespiration where serine is formed from two molecules of glycine. However, two other pathways of serine formation operate in plants and represent the branches of glycolysis diverging

Stereoselective formation of a 2 prime (3 prime)- aminoacyl ester of a nucleotide [PDF]

open access: yes
Reaction of DL-series and adenosine-5-phosphorimidazolide in the presence of adenosine-5'-(0-methylphosphate) and imidazole resulted in the stereoselective synthesis of the aminoacyl nucleotide ester, 2'(3')-0-seryl-adenosine-5'-(0-methylphosphate).

Lower limit on the mass of the neutralino (LSP) at LEP with the ALEPH detector [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
The large amount of data accumulated at LEP2 by the ALEPH experiment has been used to search for supersymmetric particles. No signal has been found therefore limits have been determined. Within the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, the constraints from direct SUSY searches of charginos, sleptons and neutralinos, are combined to extract

L‐serine: a neglected amino acid with a potential therapeutic role in diabetes

open access: yesActa Pathologica, Microbiologica et Immunologica Scandinavica (APMIS), 2019
L‐serine is classified as a non‐essential amino acid; however, L‐serine is indispensable having a central role in a broad range of cellular processes. Growing evidence suggests a role for L‐serine in the development of diabetes mellitus and its related ...

Structural basis of metallo-β-lactamase, serine-β-lactamase and penicillin-binding protein inhibition by cyclic boronates

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
β-Lactamases enable resistance to almost all β-lactam antibiotics. Pioneering work revealed that acyclic boronic acids can act as ‘transition state analogue’ inhibitors of nucleophilic serine enzymes, including serine-β-lactamases.

Agent-Based Decision Support System to Prevent and Manage Risk Situations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
The topic of risk prevention and emergency response has become a key social and political concern. One approach to address this challenge is to develop Decision Support Systems (DSS) that can help emergency planners and responders to detect emergencies, as well as to suggest possible course of actions to deal with the emergency. Our research work comes
