Verification of False Reactivity in HIV Rapid Diagnostic Tests and Its Translation Into the Three Tests Algorithm in Cameroon

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
Verification study enabled the detection of HIV false reactivity ranging from 0‐4% across rapid diagnostic tests. A reliable three‐tests algorithm ranked First Response HIV 1‐2‐0 Card, First Response HIV1+2/Syphilis Combo or STANDARD Q as suitable test 1 to mitigate false positive events. As countries move toward HIV elimination, implementing the three‐

Preliminary Development and Assessment of a Multiplex Assay for Human Papillomavirus Antibody Detection Using Commercial L1 Proteins

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
This study developed and assessed a new multiplex assay for the simultaneous detection of antibodies against multiple Human Papillomavirus (HPV) types. Using recombinant L1 protein, the assay quantifies IgG and IgA responses in human plasma, enabling comprehensive immune profiling across multiple high‐risk cancer‐associated HPV genotypes. This approach

Adaptive Immunity in Marsupials

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, EarlyView.
Comparison of the marsupial and eutherian adaptive immune systems. ABSTRACT Marsupials diverged from eutherian mammals 125–160 million years ago. Although evolutionarily distinct, both groups of mammals can produce complex adaptive immune responses to antigens with several key differences.

Clinical progress note: Mumps

open access: yesJournal of Hospital Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Mumps was a common childhood viral illness before the implementation of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccination in 1967. There was a significant decrease in mumps cases in the postvaccine era; however, there has been an increase in outbreaks in the United States over the past two decades.

Machine Learning Model for Predicting Hepatocellular Carcinoma Development in Patients With Hepatitis B Virus‐Related Cirrhosis Receiving Antiviral Therapy

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Few prediction models have been specifically designed to evaluate the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients with chronic hepatitis B and cirrhosis. This study aimed to develop a machine learning‐based prediction model to assess the risk of developing HCC in patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV)‐related cirrhosis undergoing nucleos(

Therapeutic JAK Inhibition in Idiopathic Subglottic Stenosis

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
Three patients with idiopathic subglottic stenosis and rheumatoid arthritis began JAK inhibitor therapy, after which the mean surgical‐free interval between endoscopic dilations rose from 317 to 631 days and the annualized dilation rate fell from 1.24 to 0.38 per patient‐year. Figure 2 shows this as a per‐patient timeline.
