Preventive measures in infancy to reduce under-five mortality: a case-control study in The Gambia.
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between child mortality and common preventive interventions: vaccination, trained birthing attendants, tetanus toxoid during pregnancy, breastfeeding and vitamin A supplementation. METHODS: Case-control study in

Lipid overload suppresses SREBF2‐mediated FNTB expression, leading to defective Lamin A maturation and nuclear envelope instability. This nuclear catastrophe triggers a pro‐fibrotic senescence program in cardiomyocytes. Notably, restoring nuclear integrity via AAV9‐based gene therapy effectively attenuates cardiac remodeling, identifying the ...

Characterization of Listeria monocytogenes Originating from the Spanish Meat-Processing Chain
Using agglutination techniques, 118 Listeria monocytogenes isolates from red meat and poultry were serotyped. Strains were ascribed to the serotypes 4b/4e (44.1% of the strains), 1/2 (a, b or c; 28.0%), 4c (6.8%), 4d/4e (5.9%) and 3 (a, b or c; 2.5 ...

TEAD1 Enhances Exosome Secretion and Promotes Exosome‐Mediated Tissue Regeneration
TEAD1 functions as a crucial molecular switch regulating exosome secretion in various cell types. TEAD1 enhances exosome secretion by upregulating key proteins associated with exosome secretion, including RAB11, CD9, and SNAP23. This study reveals a novel role for TEAD1 in regulating exosome secretion and tissue regeneration, particularly in diabetic ...

A Central Somatic Transmission Mediates Proprioceptive Facilitation of Muscle Pain
Zhang et al. uncover a novel central mechanism for persistent muscle pain, in which TRPA1 sensitization in MeV proprioceptive neurons enhances somatic secretion. This, in turn, disinhibits descending pain control from neighboring noradrenergic locus coeruleus neurons via local GABAergic circuits, thereby promoting inflammatory muscle pain.

Recombinant Envelope-Proteins with Mutations in the Conserved Fusion Loop Allow Specific Serological Diagnosis of Dengue-Infections [PDF]
Dengue virus (DENV) is a mosquito-borne flavivirus and a major international public health concern in many tropical and sub-tropical areas worldwide. DENV is divided into four major serotypes, and infection with one serotype leads to immunity against the

SUMMARYThere are situations in which direct observation of the attachment of antibody molecules may be the simplest method of detecting antigen-antibody reactions. Applied to the study of the sex pili determined by a number of transmissible bacterial plasmids, the method has distinguished four serotypes in the F-like class and two in the I-like class ...
