A new large Myloplus Gill 1896 from rio Negro basin, Brazilian Amazon (Characiformes: Serrasalmidae)

Zootaxa, 2016
Myloplus lucienae, new species, is described from the blackwater tributaries of the rio Negro basin. It is one of the few Myloplus species typically found in rapid areas of the Guiana Shield. Toxicological, hematological and immunological effects of levamisole and ivermectin diet supplementation on Colossoma macropomum (Serrasalmidae)

Diseases of Aquatic Organisms, 2019
This study investigated the toxicological, hematological and immunological effects of diets supplemented with levamisole and ivermectin on Colossoma macropomum. Fish were fed for 24, 96 and 240 h with diets containing 300, 600, 900 and 1200 mg of levamisole kg-1 of feed.

Aspects of acoustic communication in Serrasalmidae

2018
In Teleostei, the evolution of the ability to produce sounds has provided a great diversity of sonic mechanisms, even at the intrafamilial level. However, the constraints modulating the evolution of sound-producing mechanisms and hearing structures are very little supported by comparative anatomy studies and it is not determined in fish if the ...

Physiological adaptation to hypoxia of a neotropical characoid fish Colossoma macropomum, Serrasalmidae

Environmental Biology of Fishes, 1984
Investigations of seasonal changes in the hematological parameters of Colossoma macropomum revealed that during times of the year when they are exposed to low oxygen concentrations (< 0.5 mg 1−1), there is an increase in the hemoglobin content of the blood and the erythrocyte count.

Metazoan endoparasites of Myloplus nigrolineatus (Characiformes: Serrasalmidae) from upper Amazon river basin, Brazil

Annals of Parasitology
The success of Trematoda and Nematoda infection in fish involves a complexity of variables. The objective of this study was to report the parasitological descriptors (prevalence, mean abundance, and mean intensity) and community status of Myloplus nigrolineatus as well as to evaluate the relationship between abundance and richness of endoparasites with
