Immunogenicity of Insolubilized Bovine Serum Albumin

The Journal of Immunology, 1966
Summary As compared with soluble bovine serum albumin, the use of the heat-denatured protein as an immunizing antigen in rabbits resulted both in a larger number of responding animals and in markedly higher serum antibody titers. In measuring these titers, it was found that the lower the serum titer, the higher was the ...

The binding of penicillins to bovine serum albumin

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1966
Abstract The binding of phenoxymethylpenicillin and benzylpenicillin to bovine serum albumin has been studied over the pH range 1·5–10·0 in a variety of buffers. There was a marked reduction in binding above pH 9. The buffers used interfered with binding in the order trismaleate > veronal = chloride > phosphate.

Producing gelatin nanoparticles as delivery system for bovine serum albumin.

Iranian Biomedical Journal, 2014
BACKGROUND Progress in the field of biology and biochemistry has led to the discovery of numerous bioactive peptides and proteins in the last few decades. Delivery of therapeutic proteins/peptides has received a considerable amount of attention in recent

Interaction of bovine serum albumin with gemini surfactants

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2010
The interactions between bovine serum albumin and cationic gemini surfactants were investigated as a function of concentration, under different pH conditions. The investigation deals with dielectric relaxation, dynamic light scattering, zeta-potential, circular dichroism, and UV spectroscopy.

Nanoparticle-protein interactions: a thermodynamic and kinetic study of the adsorption of bovine serum albumin to gold nanoparticle surfaces.

Langmuir, 2013
Investigating the adsorption process of proteins on nanoparticle surfaces is essential to understand how to control the biological interactions of functionalized nanoparticles. In this work, a library of spherical and rod-shaped gold nanoparticles (GNPs)

Role of conformational flexibility in the emulsifying properties of bovine serum albumin.

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2013
Although it is well recognized that the conformation state of a protein affects its surface properties, the importance of conformation flexibility to its functionality is still not well understood.

IgG antibodies against bovine serum albumin in humans—their prevalence and response to exposure to bovine serum albumin

Journal of Immunological Methods, 2005
Human exposure to bovine serum albumin (BSA) is very common and occurs through dietary and medicinal routes. Although great effort has been made to reduce exposure to BSA in pharmaceuticals to eliminate the threat of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, less attention has been given to assessing the human immune response after exposure to BSA. A sensitive

Dissolution of bovine serum albumin hydrogels in alkali

Food Hydrocolloids, 2018
Heat-induced protein gelled deposits, occurring during dairy processing, are industrially cleaned withcaustic-based solutions. In order to develop general dissolution mechanisms of protein hydrogels, inanalogy to general gelation mechanisms for globular proteins, different protein systems must be characterized. We report the first characterization of ...

Mesostructure of fibrillar bovine serum albumin gels

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2003
The mesostructure of bovine serum albumin (BSA) at low pH was investigated. Rheological measurements were performed to determine the critical percolation concentration (c(p)). A decreasing c(p) with increasing ionic strength was found. Fibrils with a contour length of about 100-300 nm were found using transmission electron microscopy.
