C5b-9 increases albumin permeability of isolated glomeruli in vitro [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
C5b-9 increases albumin permeability of isolated glomeruli in vitro. Deposition of antibody and activation of the complement cascade are important in both naturally occurring glomerulonephritis and in experimental models including passive Heymann ...

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Association of albumin levels with the risk of intracranial atherosclerosis

open access: yesBMC Neurology, 2023
Objective Intracranial artery stenosis from atherosclerosis is one of the etiologies of ischemic stroke. There is a correlation between serum albumin level and atherosclerosis.

Gambaran Kadar Albumin Serum Pada Pasien Penyakit Ginjal Kronik Stadium 5 Non Dialisis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
: Chronic kidney disease is a pathophysiology process with diverse etiology, causing a progressive decline on kidney function, and in most cases ends with kidney failure (stage 5). The low level of albumin serum is an important predictor of the morbidity

Allosteric modulation of zinc speciation by fatty acids [PDF]

open access: yes
Background: Serum albumin is the major protein component of blood plasma and is responsible for the circulatory transport of a range of small molecules that include fatty acids, hormones, metal ions and drugs.

Analisis Ketahanan Hidup Lima Tahun Penderita Kanker Ovarium Epithelial di Rumah Sakit Kanker Dharmais Jakarta [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Ovarian cancer is one of the largest causes of death in women. In cancer, albumin serum level is an important prognostic indicator of survival, whereas globally the probability of ovarian cancer patient with serum albumin ³ 3,6 g/dL and ² 3,5 g/dL to ...

The atypical KRASQ22K mutation directs TGF‐β response towards partial epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in patient‐derived colorectal cancer tumoroids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TGF‐β has a complex role in cancer, exhibiting both tumor‐suppressive and tumor‐promoting properties. Using a series of differentiated tumoroids, derived from different stages and mutational background of colorectal cancer patients, we replicate this duality of TGF‐β in vitro. Notably, the atypical but highly aggressive KRASQ22K mutation rendered early‐

Serum Albumin Binding and Esterase Activity: Mechanistic Interactions with Organophosphates

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
The albumin molecule, in contrast to many other plasma proteins, is not covered with a carbohydrate moiety and can bind and transport various molecules of endogenous and exogenous origin.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Serum albumins—Unusual allergens [PDF]

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 2013
Albumins are multifunctional proteins present in the blood serum of animals. They can bind and transport a wide variety of ligands which they accommodate due to their conformational flexibility. Serum albumins are highly conserved both in amino acid sequence and three-dimensional structure.
