Estimation of serum albumin levels associated with chronic periodontitis in elderly subjects - A cross sectional study

open access: yesSRM Journal of Research in Dental Sciences, 2012
Aim: The present study was conducted to evaluate the association between serum albumin and chronic periodontitis in elderly individuals. Methodology: Sixty systemically healthy subjects in the age group of fifty and above were included in the study ...

Low serum albumin and the acute phase response predict low serum selenium in HIV-1 infected women

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2006
Background Low serum selenium has been associated with lower CD4 counts and greater mortality among HIV-1-seropositive individuals, but most studies have not controlled for serum albumin and the presence of an acute phase response.

Efek Infusa Daun Mangifera Foetida L. Terhadap Kadar Albumin Dan Total Protein Serum Tikus Dengan Kekurangan Energi Protein [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Albumin sebagai komponen terbesar serum protein merupakan penanda paling sering untuk status gizi. Kekurangan energi protein (KEP) dapat mengurangi kadar albumin serum ini.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Human serum albumin crystals and method of preparation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Human serum albumin (HSA) crystals are provided in the form of tetragonal plates having the space groups P42(sub 1)2, the crystals being grown to sizes in excess of 0.5 mm in two dimensions and a thickness of 0.1 mm. Growth of the crystals is carried out

Relation of hyperlipidemia in serum and loss of high density lipoproteins in urine in the nephrotic syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The mechanism leading to hyperlipidemia in the nephrotic syndrome is not fully understood but may be related in part to loss of high density lipoproteins in the urine of patients with nephrosis.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Quantification of the difference between pre-dialysis and post-dialysis serum albumin measurement and its relationship to intra-dialytic weight gain

open access: yesKidney Research and Clinical Practice, 2012
Haemodialysis patients may have low albumin levels due to a cascade of factors, including inflammation and reduced dietary intake. Albumin is commonly used in clinical settings by dieticians as part of a comprehensive nutritional assessment.
