Reference values for serum amyloid A, haptoglobin, lysozyme, zinc and iron in healthy lactating Lacaune sheep

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 2018
Acute-phase proteins and trace elements are considered biomarkers of the immune response to infection, inflammation, trauma and other pathological conditions, as well as indicators of the health status and productivity of farm animals. Given the scarcity

Sex-dependent association of serum uric acid levels with amyloid accumulation among amyloid-positive older adults.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
We aimed to examine the potential effect of sex on the longitudinal association of baseline serum uric acid levels with brain amyloid accumulation over time among older adults with and without abnormal amyloid. At baseline, the study sample comprised 499

Association of Arachidonic Acid, Eicosapentaenoic Acid and Serum Amyloid A Levels in Women with PCOS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Biomedical Sciences, 2023
Background & Objective: PCOS is a multifactorial disorder characterized by inflammation caused by unknown reasons. This study aimed to investigate the Arachidonic acid (AA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) levels and Serum amyloid A (SAA) protein and gene ...

EVALUATION OF HEMOSTATIC PARAMETERS AND SERUM AMYLOID (A) IN HORSES WITH ABDOMINAL PAIN [PDF]

open access: yesAssiut Veterinary Medical Journal, 2018
The objective of the present study was to investigate the coagulation disorders and acute phase protein (serum amyloid A) in horses with abdominal pain. A total of 80 native breed horses of both sexes were examined.

Tracheobronchial amyloidosis following COVID‐19 infection

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports
Deposition of amyloid proteins in extracellular space can occur due to uncontrolled inflammatory processes. Tracheobronchial amyloidosis (TBA) is a rare form of such disease.

Association of results of the glutaraldehyde coagulation test with plasma acute phase protein concentrations and hematologic findings in hospitalized cows

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
IntroductionThe glutaraldehyde test (GAT) allows for animal-side semi-quantitative estimation of fibrinogen and gamma-globulin concentrations in blood samples of adult cattle and therefore detection of inflammatory disease conditions.

Comparison of Serum Amyloid A Measurements in Equine Synovial Fluid With Routine Diagnostic Methods to Detect Synovial Infection in a Clinical Environment

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2019
Synovial fluid analysis is utilized to diagnose septic synovitis. However, not all cases are clearly and rapidly discernible with the diagnostic tools available in the laboratory.

Increased hypothalamic microglial activation after viral-induced pneumococcal lung infection is associated with excess serum amyloid A production

open access: yesJournal of Neuroinflammation, 2018
Background It is well established that lung pathology and inflammation are more severe during respiratory infections complicated by the presence of both bacteria and viruses.

The prognostic value of serum amyloid A in solid tumors: a meta-analysis

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2019
Background Previous studies have demonstrated that serum amyloid A (SAA) levels are correlated with the clinical outcomes of solid tumors. However, the available data have not been systematically evaluated.

Cloning and Quantification of Ferret Serum Amyloid A

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 2013
Serum amyloid A (SAA) is used as a biomarker for infections and inflammation in humans and veterinary medicine. We cloned ferret cDNA encoding SAA from the liver of a ferret via reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR). The sequence of the cDNA clone revealed that ferret SAA has an open reading frame of 387 bp that encodes 129 amino acids.
