Quantitative radial immunodiffusion assay for serum amyloid A protein
Journal of Immunological Methods, 1983A radial immunodiffusion assay for serum amyloid A protein (SAA) using a commercially available antiserum is described. Serum is applied untreated to 1% agarose gels prepared in 0.02 M barbitone buffer, pH 8.6, containing 40 g/l polyethylene glycol 6000. Incubation is carried out overnight at 37 degrees C.

Trauma, high density lipoproteins, and serum amyloid protein A
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1984Several apoproteins not readily detectable in normal serum lipoproteins were found in markedly increased amounts in the lipoprotein density interval 1.125-1.21 g/ml (HDL3) of serum obtained from victims of severe trauma. Following electrophoretic separations, they were shown to be isotypes of the acute-phase protein serum amyloid A (SAA) by ...

Sandwich enzyme immunoassay for serum amyloid A protein (SAA)
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1989Serum amyloid A (SAA), a putative serum precursor of the AA protein which constitutes amyloid fibrils in secondary amyloidosis [l], has been clinically evaluated as one of the sensitive acute-phase reactants in serum [2,3]. The SAA concentration has been analyzed by radial i~unodiffusion (RID) f4,5] and radioi~unoassay (RIA) [6-81.

A sensitive immunochemiluminescence assay for human serum amyloid a protein
Clinical Biochemistry, 1991We describe an immunochemiluminescence assay for human plasma serum amyloid A protein (SAA) in which specific rabbit polyclonal antibodies against synthetic peptides are used. The detection of the antigen-antibody reaction at 425 nm is based on a brief emission of light by a luminophor component (signal) in response to chemical energy.

Amyloid formation in the rat: Adenoviral expression of mouse serum amyloid A proteins
Amyloid, 2000Serum amyloid A (SAA) proteins are acute-phase apolipoproteins that are associated with high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particles: SAA proteins are precursors to secondary amyloid fibril proteins and under certain conditions of chronic or recurrent inflammation these proteins are deposited as amyloid fibrils.

C-reactive Protein and Serum Amyloid A protein in Neonatal Infections
Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2000In this study, we examine C-reactive protein (CRP) and serum amyloid protein A (SAA). Although the former is the best known and most commonly used indicator of inflammation, certain considerations underline the inadequacy of CRP determination alone for the early diagnosis of infection. In fact symptoms often precede the CRP elevation.

Serum amyloid A (SAA) protein was isolated from acute phase sheep sera by ultracentrifugation, gel filtration and ion‐exchange chromatography. The purified protein was characterized by sodium dodecylsulfate polyacrylamidc gel electrophoresis (SDS‐PAGE), isoelectric focusing, amino acid composition and Edman degradation.

Gene Structure of a Human Serum Amyloid A Protein and Comparison with Amyloid A
1986The protein in deposits of reactive amyloidosis is amyloid A (AA) protein (1,2). Isolates of AA protein from human and various animals have similar molecular weights of about 8,000 dalton and similar amino acid sequences of 76 residues (3–5). The only serum protein which bears close biochemical and immunochemical identity with AA is serum amyloid A ...
