Variants in AKR1D1 and Infant Mortality: Should Bile Acid Screening be a Routine Part of Newborn Screening?

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Biallelic pathogenic variants in AKR1D1 cause Δ4‐3‐oxosteroid 5β‐reductase deficiency, disrupt bile acid synthesis, and result in Congenital Bile Acid Synthesis defect type 2 (CBAS2). CBAS2 presents in infancy with cholestasis, coagulopathy, and failure to thrive.

Correlation of serum bilirubin and transcutaneous bilirubin in newborns

open access: yesInternational Journal of Contemporary Pediatrics, 2021
Background: Hyperbilirubinemia is a very common entity in newborns. Screening all the babies for hyperbilirubinemia is must. Serum bilirubin is the standard method of checking the bilirubin in newborns. This is very cumbersome, invasive and time consuming method. Hence many newborns will be discharged without screening.

Characterization of inflammatory pseudotumors in a large animal model of liver cancer

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
CT images in arterial and portal venous phases of liver lesions in Oncopig. Abstract Background The development of relevant and robust large animal models of hepatocellular carcinoma is needed to test new therapeutic strategies for this disease. Transgenic approaches hold promise in addressing this complex problem. One such model, the Oncopig, has been

Electronic Health Records to Test Multimorbidity Influences to Plasma Biomarker Interpretation for Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Plasma biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology are frequently tested in specialized research settings, which limits the generalizability of findings. Using electronic health records and banked plasma, we evaluated plasma biomarkers—phosphorylated tau 217 (p‐tau217), β‐amyloid 1–42/1–40 (Aβ42/Aβ40) and p‐tau217/Aβ42—in a real‐world ...

Serum Bilirubin Levels and Developmental Outcome

open access: yesPediatric Neurology Briefs, 2006
The neurodevlopmental risks associated with neonatal total serum bilirubin levels of 25 mg/dL or higher in 140 affected infants were compared with 419 randomly selected controls from a cohort of term-infants born 1995-1998 in Kaiser Permanente hospitals ...

Population pharmacokinetics and exposure–response analysis of durvalumab in patients with resectable stage II to IIIB (N2) NSCLC in the phase III AEGEAN study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims In the AEGEAN study, perioperative durvalumab plus platinum‐based neoadjuvant chemotherapy for patients with resectable stage II to IIIB (N2) non‐small‐cell lung cancer (NSCLC) demonstrated a favourable benefit–risk profile. This study evaluated population pharmacokinetics (PopPK) and exposure–response (ER) relationships of durvalumab in patients ...
