Causal inference between serum bilirubin levels and juvenile idiopathic arthritis‐associated uveitis: A bidirectional Mendelian randomization study [PDF]
Background Several observational studies have suggested an association between low serum bilirubin levels and Behçet's disease uveitis. However, the causal inference between bilirubin level and juvenile idiopathic arthritis‐associated uveitis (JIAU ...

Relationship among Bilirubin Levels Measured Using Three Methods of Transcutaneous, Serum, and Kramer’s Scale in Term Neonates [PDF]
Background: The measurement of total serum bilirubin is a stressful diagnostic method; therefore, it is necessary to measure bilirubin levels using non-invasive ways.

Serum Bilirubin and Bilirubin/Albumin Ratio as Predictors of Bilirubin Encephalopathy [PDF]
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE:Bilirubin/albumin ratio (B/A) may provide a better estimate of free bilirubin than total serum bilirubin (TSB), thus improving identification of newborns at risk for bilirubin encephalopathy. The objective of the study was to identify thresholds and compare specificities of TSB and B/A in detecting patients with acute and ...

Bilirubin/Rat Serum Albumin Interaction. [PDF]
Essential differences are demonstrated between bilirubin binding to rat serum proteins and to albumin in human serum. Acidimetric titration of rat serum with and without added bilirubin shows that binding of bilirubin acid in the range of pH from 6.8 to 8.8 takes place with release of less than one hydrogen ion per molecule of bound bilirubin.

Neonatal Serum Bilirubin from Skin Reflectance [PDF]
Summary: To provide a noninvasive method for serum bilirubin determination in newborn infants, a reflectometer system was developed using a novel fiber optic arrangement permitting measurement of the light reflected from a small area (3 cm2) of the infant's skin. The reflectometer was operated over the spectral region 400–750 nm with a 30-sec scan time.

Ursodeoxycholic acid improves bilirubin but not albumin in primary biliary cirrhosis: further evidence for nonefficacy. [PDF]
BACKGROUND/AIM: In randomised controlled trials (RCTs) of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), although serum bilirubin is frequently reduced, its effect on disease progression and mortality is unclear.

"ASSOCIATION BETWEEN TOTAL SERUM BILIRUBIN LEVEL AND MANIFESTATIONS OF KERNICTERUS " [PDF]
Kernicterus (bilirubin induced encephalopathy) is an uncommon disorder with tragic consequences, especially when it affects healthy term and near-term neonates. Appointment of cut off value of total serum bilirubin level that have a safe margin for early
