Indocyanine green clearance by pulse dye densitometry correlates with portal hypertension, systemic inflammation and circulatory dysfunction in advanced chronic liver disease. While diagnostic accuracy for CSPH was limited, ICG‐R15 independently predicted decompensation and ACLF/liver‐related mortality, highlighting its prognostic value across disease ...

Serum villin‐1 is a non‐invasive indicator of gut barrier damage and short‐term mortality in acutely decompensated cirrhosis. Incorporating villin‐1 assessment into risk stratification methods improves prognostic accuracy by capturing an essential, yet previously overlooked component of disease progression.

Hepatitis B Virus RNA Predicts Hepatocellular Carcinoma Despite Viral Suppression
Serum HBV RNA levels at viral suppression predict HCC development in nucleos(t)ide analogue‐treated patients with chronic hepatitis B, outperforming Hepatitis B core‐related antigen alone. ABSTRACT Background Despite achieving undetectable hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA levels with nucleos(t)ide analogue (NA) therapy, patients with chronic hepatitis B ...

Characterisation and Prognostic Implication of Cholestasis After Burn Injury
In 532 burn ICU patients, we quantified trajectories of cholestasis markers and validated burn‐associated cholestasis definitions. Bilirubin dynamics, particularly hyperbilirubinemia ≥ 2× ULN within 14 days, independently predicted excess in‐hospital and overall mortality beyond burn and critical‐illness severity, identifying a high‐risk subgroup after

Amino Acid Imbalance Is an Independent Factor for Mortality in Patients With Liver Cirrhosis
Amino acid imbalance, reflected by a low branched‐chain amino acids (BCAA)‐to‐tyrosine ratio (BTR), independently predicts mortality in patients with cirrhosis. Both decreased serum BCAA and increased tyrosine levels are significant and independent prognostic markers.

Iron overload in hereditary spherocytosis: Are genetic factors the cause?
Summary Non‐transfusional iron overload (IOL) in hereditary spherocytosis (HS) is poorly documented compared with other red blood cell disorders. We studied 13 HS adults with confirmed IOL to identify potential genetic factors. Using a next‐generation sequencing panel of 46 genes related to HS, anaemia and iron metabolism, we found no association ...
