Absorptivity of Alkaline Bilirubin and Bilirubin in Serum

Scandinavian Journal of Clinical & Laboratory Investigation, 1967
The absorptivity of alkaline solutions of highly purified bilirubin has been determined. The concentration of bilirubin in alkaline standard solutions of commercially available bilirubin may then be determined by direct spectrophotometry. The absorptivity of bilirubin at four different pH levels in normal sera is given.

Noninvasive Estimation of Serum Bilirubin

Pediatrics, 1998
Objective. The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy and clinical usefulness of a new computer-driven, hand-held device (Chromatics Colormate III) to estimate serum bilirubin from skin-reflectance (skin color) of neonates. Study Design.

Serum bilirubin concentrations and multiple sclerosis

Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2011
Bilirubin is the end product of heme catabolism by heme oxygenases. Although bilirubin has long been considered as a toxic waste product, it is now recognized as an endogenous antioxidant. It has been reported that bilirubin is an effective treatment in both acute and chronic experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) disease models.

Serum bilirubin levels in Melanesian neonates

Annals of Tropical Paediatrics, 1985
The pattern of early neonatal serum bilirubin levels in a population of normal fullterm healthy Melanesian babies was determined. The mean (and standard deviation) of cord blood serum bilirubin from 98 babies was 1.2 (1.4) mg/dl (20.5 (23.9) mumol/l).

Bilirubin photoisomers in rhesus monkey serum

Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 2018
As rhesus monkeys exhibit physiological jaundice during the neonatal period, we used rhesus monkey serum to examine changes in bilirubin photoisomers. Bilirubin-rhesus monkey serum solution was irradiated with blue light-emitting diode, and changes in the absorbance and bilirubin fraction were compared with those in bilirubin- human serum albumin (HSA)

Serum Bilirubin Levels with Antiepileptic Drugs

Epilepsia, 1989
Summary: The incidence of reduced bilirubin levels in 168 outpatients with epilepsy, compared with levels in 69 controls, has been investigated. Highly significant (p < 0.001) reductions in average bilirubin levels were noted for carbamazepine (CBZ), phenytoin (PUT), phenobarbi‐tal (PB), and multiple drug groups.

Some aspects of serum bilirubin determination

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1961
Abstract It has been demonstrated chromatographically that direct and indirect bilirubin are two different substances which are found in pathological sera in varying proportions; it was an obvious idea to investigate whether the minute percentage, as used in clinicochemical practice, constitutes a reliable standard of the concentration of conjugated ...
