Metabolic‐immune interactions in gastric cancer T cells: A single‐cell atlas for prognostic biomarker identification

open access: yesQuantitative Biology, Volume 14, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Metabolic alterations and immune dysfunction within the gastric tumor microenvironment critically drive gastric cancer (GC) progression and therapeutic resistance. Although single‐cell RNA sequencing (scRNA‐seq) has unveiled cellular heterogeneity in GC, the metabolic landscapes of tumor cells and their interplay with immune components remain ...

A Novel Perspective on Multiple Sclerosis: Morphological Shifts in Immune Cell Populations

open access: yesProgress in Neurology and Psychiatry, Volume 30, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This study aims to investigate expanded hematological data in multiple sclerosis (MS) and evaluate their association with disease severity. A total of 190 patients participated in the study. For this purpose, expanded hemocytometry data were compared between 120 patients diagnosed with MS and 70 healthy controls.

Untargeted Metabolomics Identifies N‐Lactoyl‐Amino Acids as Dose‐Responsive Plasma Biomarkers of Metformin Adherence in Type 2 Diabetes

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 119, Issue 4, Page 1057-1069, April 2026.
Metformin is the most widely prescribed antidiabetic drug, yet adherence remains difficult to objectively assess. Using untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics, we analyzed plasma from 637 patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) with confirmed metformin use and 143 nondiabetic controls, annotating 614 metabolites.

Reprogramming SREBP1‐dependent lipogenesis and inflammation in high‐risk breast with licochalcone A: A novel path to cancer prevention

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 158, Issue 7, Page 1927-1940, 1 April 2026.
What's new? Endocrine drugs repurposed from treatment protocols are the primary medications available for breast cancer (BC) prevention in at‐risk women. Adverse effects, however, significantly minimize uptake and prevention impact. Here, the authors investigated licochalcone A (LicA), a non‐endocrine anti‐inflammatory agent with reported hematologic ...

Paroxysmal Nocturnal Haemoglobinuria‐Associated Acute Cutaneous Thrombosis and Haemolysis in the Setting of Parvovirus B19 and Varicella Zoster Virus Infection

open access: yeseJHaem, Volume 7, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT A 28‐year‐old male with paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria (PNH) presented with headache, nasal bridge discomfort and haemoglobinuria. He developed a macular‐papular rash which rapidly progressed into purpura, necrosis and peri‐orbital oedema. Investigations demonstrated severe haemolytic anaemia and acute parvovirus B19 infection.

Lactuca sativa L. losses and wastes as a source of biobased ingredients

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, Volume 106, Issue 6, Page 3577-3591, April 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND The growing global population and increasing consumer focus on healthy eating challenge the agricultural sector to ensure both sustainable food production and safety. Lettuce (Lactuca sativa Mill.), the most cultivated leafy vegetable worldwide, can lose up to 40% of its weight during processing.
