Fat reduction mediates the efficacy of intensive lifestyle interventions on fertility‐sparing treatment in overweight patients with endometrial cancer and intraepithelial neoplasia

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Intensive lifestyle interventions‐based weight management targeting fat reduction may enhance fertility‐sparing treatment outcomes in overweight patients with endometrial cancer or its precursor. Our findings advocate the integration of body composition‐guided weight management into standardized protocols.

Circulating levels of insulin‐like growth factor I (IGF‐I) and risk of multiple myeloma: An observational and Mendelian randomisation study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Evidence for an association between insulin‐like growth factors (IGF) and multiple myeloma (MM) is inconsistent. We examined total IGF‐I concentrations and risk of MM by combining baseline serological data among UK Biobank participants (n = 444 187; 732 incident MM) with a two‐sample Mendelian randomisation (MR) analysis using identified ...

Metabolic Phenotype Predicts Biochemical Response to Inositol Supplementation in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the effect of inositol supplementation on biochemical hyperandrogenism in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and to explore whether metabolic phenotype modifies the endocrine response. Design Systematic review and meta‐analysis of randomized controlled trials conducted in accordance with PRISMA guidelines ...

Glucocorticoids and HPA axis regulation in the stress–obesity connection: A comprehensive overview of biological, physiological and behavioural dimensions

open access: yesClinical Obesity, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2025.
Summary Chronic stress, characterized by increased long‐term exposure to the glucocorticoid hormone cortisol, is increasingly linked to obesity development. Still, various knowledge gaps persist, including on underlying pathophysiological mechanisms. The aim of the current review is to provide the latest insights on the connection between stress and ...

An experimental approach to assess the combined effects of multiple stressors on a large vertebrate species

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract The design of experiments to investigate the combined effects of multiple stressors requires exposing target organisms to multiple combinations of stressor doses. Concurrent manipulation of stressors is often infeasible with wildlife, but long‐lasting health effects allow individual health to be used as an integrator of prior stressor exposure.

The development of type 2 diabetes amongst sibling pairs in the South‐South region of Nigeria: The effect of genetics, environment and lifestyle

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Type 2 diabetes is a complex condition with a multifactorial pathogenesis. The pathogenesis is considered to be polygenic due to complex interactions between genetic/epigenetic and environmental factors. The aim of this study is to determine the genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors associated with the development of type 2

INTER-RELAÇÕES ENTRE A FUNÇÃO HEPÁTICA, LIPIDOGRAMA E OS DISTÚRBIOS INFLAMATÓRIOS DO ENDOMÉTRIO (ENDOMETRITES PUERPERAIS AGUDAS, RETENÇÃO DOS ANEXOS FETAIS E CATARROS GENITAIS) DE FÊMEAS BOVINAS DA RAÇA HOLANDESA

open access: yesCiência Animal Brasileira, 2010
Aiming to assess the relationship among hepatic function, lipid profile and endometrium inflammatory disorders (acutepostpartum endometritis, placental retention and genital catarrhaldischarges), 126 blood samples were collected from Holsteincows. Hepatic

Primary cardiac T‐cell rich large B‐cell lymphoma causing aortic stenosis with metastasis in a Warmblood

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary An 18‐year‐old Warmblood mare was presented to the Royal Veterinary College Equine Referral Hospital for investigation of progressive periocular and facial swelling, weight loss and tachycardia. Physical examination additionally identified bilateral pansystolic (grade 5/6 basilar left‐sided, 2/6 right‐sided), cardiac murmurs, submandibular ...

Alternative Protein Sources in Poultry and Pig Nutrition—A Review

open access: yesJournal of Animal Physiology and Animal Nutrition, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Proteins are an essential nutrient for the viability of all animals, enabling organisms to grow, regenerate and defend themselves against pathogenic organisms. Soybean and soybean‐based materials are commonly used to supplement protein in animal nutrition.
