Serum α2-Globulins in Breast Carcinoma
Archives of Surgery, 1974The serum proteins of 48 patients with adenocarcinoma of the breast were studied by electrophoresis, with particular attention to the α 2 -globulin fraction, and compared with sera of 162 apparently healthy persons. The α 2 -globulin fraction was elevated in 33 of 50 patients (in one of 11 with local disease and in 32 of 39 with spread beyond local ...

Variations in Human Serum β-Globulins
Nature, 1957GENETICALLY controlled variations in the haptoglobins (α2-globulins) of human serum have been demonstrated by electrophoresis in starch gels1–3. The frequencies of the genes controlling these proteins probably differ from one racial group to another4. Inherited differences in the serum proteins of dairy cattle have also been established using the same ...

DEFECTIVE SERUM GAMMA GLOBULIN FORMATION
Annals of Internal Medicine, 1955Excerpt The anomaly called agammaglobulinemia has become a fairly well known clinical entity, although prior to Bruton's report1in 1952 it had never been described.

Serum Levels of Bactericidin and Globulin in Schizophrenia
Archives of General Psychiatry, 1963According to a number of investigators schizophrenia is a disorder of adaptation on a biochemical level. Since immunogenesis is a basic biologic adaptive mechanism it is not surprising that many efforts have been made to examine linkages or parallelisms between schizophrenia and immune processes.

HYPERSENSITIVITY TO IMMUNE SERUM GLOBULIN
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1960To the Editor:— The clinical note inThe Journal, Sept. 26, 1959, page 415, is a case report entitled "Hypersensitivity to Immune Serum Globulin." The publication of this seems unfortunate to me, since both diagnosis and treatment are open to question. The inaccuracies which it contains could lead to disaster in circumstances of a similar nature.

Immune Serum Globulin Therapy for Polymyositis
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1988To the Editor. —The CASE REPORT by Roifman et al 1 regarding the use of immune serum globulin in the treatment of chronic polymyositis requires clarification. The authors describe a patient with "normal immunity," but they did not provide any information regarding what this means.

Studies of the Immune Globulins of Human Serum
The Journal of Immunology, 1963Summary A method is described which allows the isolation of antigenically pure samples of the three immune globulins: γss (=7 S γ), γ1M (=19 S γ) and γ1A (=β2A), starting from individual serum samples. The γss-globulin is obtained by chromatography on diethylaminoethyl-cellulose.

The interaction of immune serum globulin and immune globulin intravenous with complement
Molecular Immunology, 1983The in vitro anticomplementary activity of untreated and heat-aggregated (63 degrees C, 10 min) immune serum globulin (ISG) and immune globulin intravenous (IGIV) prepared by partial reduction and alkylation have been evaluated by three assays, C3 activation, binding to C1q and enhancement of alternative pathway lysis of rabbit erythrocytes.

Complement interaction with immune serum globulin and immune globulin intravenous
The American Journal of Medicine, 1984Three complement assays, C1q binding activity, C3 activation in normal human serum, and enhancement of alternative pathway activity, have been used to evaluate the in vitro anticomplementary activity of untreated and heat-aggregated (63 degrees C, 10 minutes) immune serum globulin and immune globulin intravenous prepared by partial reduction and ...
