Hæmoglobin-binding Serum Globulins
Nature, 1963Two main haemoglobin-binding serum globulin fractions have been demonstrated by using the technique of immuno-electrophoresis. One precipitation line corresponds to the α2 region and is sometimes doubled1; the other to the β region1,2. On the other hand, starch-gel electrophoresis shows numerous haemoglobin-binding globulins which are now well known as

Heterogeneity of serum myeloma globulins
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1958The characteristic electrophoretic pattern of myeloma globulins on paper or boundary electrophoresis has been attributed 1, 2 to the electrical homogeneity of this type of protein. Rarely, a myeloma globulin has been found to comprise two electrophoretic components3-8 and, in one instance’, evidence of three electrophoretic components has been obtained.

DEFECTIVE SERUM GAMMA GLOBULIN FORMATION
Annals of Internal Medicine, 1955Excerpt The anomaly called agammaglobulinemia has become a fairly well known clinical entity, although prior to Bruton's report1in 1952 it had never been described.

Serum Globulin Polymorphism in Pellagra
Nature, 1962IN recent work on the serum iron and total iron-binding capacity of groups of healthy and diseased Africans, we found the total iron-binding capacity of pellagra patients to be approximately 60 per cent of healthy controls1. Zone electrophoresis on filter paper in an earlier work2 did not show that the concentration of the β-globulins in pellagra was ...

Serum α2-Globulins in Breast Carcinoma
Archives of Surgery, 1974The serum proteins of 48 patients with adenocarcinoma of the breast were studied by electrophoresis, with particular attention to the α 2 -globulin fraction, and compared with sera of 162 apparently healthy persons. The α 2 -globulin fraction was elevated in 33 of 50 patients (in one of 11 with local disease and in 32 of 39 with spread beyond local ...

Pediatrics In Review, 1983
In the November issue of PIR (4:135, 1982), on p 140 under "Hepatitis B Immune Globulin (HBIG), Recommendation," the next to the last paragraph states: "In newborns with a possible exposure to hepatitis B, a dose of 0.5 ml/kg of HBIG is recommended." This recommended dose is much too large for a newborn.

JAMA, 1965
The "immune-globulins" in human serum consist of three well defined and characterized classes; namely; 7S-γ2(gamma-ss); 7S-γ1(γ1A, β2A) and 19S-γ1(γ-1M, β2M). These plasma components are associated with antibody activity of major biologic importance to immunity and resistance.

Intravenous Immune Serum Globulin in Immunodeficiency
Vox Sanguinis, 1985ABSTRACTThis study was undertaken to compare intravenous gamma‐globulin (IVGG) for 1 year in patients with primary immune defects who had previously been treated with intramuscular gamma‐globulin (IMGG). Forty‐three patients were available for analysis.
