Low serum prealbumin levels in post-stroke depression

Psychiatry Research, 2016
Previous studies have shown that prealbumin is associated with depression. However, the association between prealbumin and post-stroke depression remains unelucidated. This observational cohort study determined whether low baseline serum prealbumin could predict post-stroke depression at 1 month in patients admitted with acute stroke.

Strain differences in the prealbumin serum esterases of JAX rabbits

open access: yesJournal of Heredity, 1977
The serum prealbumin esterase phenotypes were determined for 431 adult rabbits representing the majority of the breeding stock of the genetically defined JAX rabbits. Uniform phenotypes were observed in 8 of the 15 strains where adequate samples were obtained. In all of the phenotypes where uniformity was observed, the Est-2F gene was lacking.

Serum Levels of Albumin and Prealbumin Do Not Correlate With Nutrient Delivery in Surgical Intensive Care Unit Patients

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, 2018
Serum albumin and prealbumin levels, may be more strongly associated with inflammation than with nutrient delivery. Their predictive value has not been extensively described in surgical intensive care unit (ICU) patients.

Prealbumin proteins in serum

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1971
Abstract The paper presents a modification of the standard Ornstein and Davis method. Normal and pathological sera were analysed by disc electrophoresis on 11% polyacrylamide. This concentration is very convenient for prealbumin separation. The present procedure gives better fractionation of prealbumin than the methods previously reported.

Serum Prealbumin: Polymorphism in Man

Science, 1965
Serums from 390 Norwegian blood donors and 31 members of two families were studied by starch gel electrophoresis. Five different prealbumin phenotypes were found, indicating a genetic theory of three codominant alleles for which the terms Pr F , Pr

Purification of Prealbumin from Human Serum

Preparative Biochemistry, 1987
A method is presented by which prealbumin (thyroxine-binding prealbumin; tryptophan-rich prealbumin) may be purified to homogeneity from human serum. The method involves precipitation of contaminating proteins with dilute aqueous phenol, ion-exchange chromatography on DEAE-Sephacel, and gel permeation chromatography on Sephadex G-100.

A Comparison of Serum Transferrin and Serum Prealbumin as Nutritional Parameters

Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, 1987
Serum transferrin and prealbumin levels were determined at intervals of 3 to 4 days in 16 patients requiring nutritional support. Caloric and nitrogen intake were measured and nitrogen balance calculated. There were 117 intervals available for analysis.

Structure of the chromosomal gene for human serum prealbumin

Gene, 1985
The human prealbumin gene has been cloned and its complete nucleotide sequence determined. The gene has a size of about 6.9 kb and is composed of four exons and three introns. Two Alu family sequences having opposing polarity were found in introns.

Serum albumin, prealbumin, and postalbumin in perinatal pigs

Developmental Biology, 1969
Abstract The serum proteins of late-fetal and neonatal unsuckled piglets have been compared with those of 5-day-old and older pigs. Electrophoretic behavior on polyacrylamide gel (PAG) and starch block, immunoreactivity, and solubility in 5% trichloroacetic acid (TCA) were studied.
